Le Petit Dahlia

Hello!  This week at Topflight Stamps we are using washi tape on our creations.  I had fun with some AALL & Create Blooming Splodge #74 - gorgeous pink flowers on this one.  I laid down a strip of the washi tape on scrap cardstock and glued it down so it has no chance of peeling up.  Then I used a flower punch from my stash and punched out a couple to use on my card.  Moving on to the card base, I positioned the PaperArtsy "Le Petit Dahlia" stencil over my card and brushed on Lavinia Truffle Dye Ink where the words appear near top and bottom.  I used a pink ink from my stash for the dahlia itself, and this Lavinia Pink Elephant ink pad is a really good match for it.  Then I cleaned the stencil, and took out some stenciling paste to highlight the word "PARIS" from it.  Back to the washi tape, I used a piece of it to decorate the very bottom of the card front, added my punched flowers, and the final touch:  pearls!  Hunkydory Diamond Sparkles Precious Pearls are my favorite way to add some bling to cards!  I used them on the washi tape punched flowers as well as surrounding the word "PARIS".  Hope you have a beautiful day! ~ Colleen

XOXO from the Techno-Tweets Lovebirds

It's Tuesday which means you've got Kathi here to share a project with you. This week's focus is on Washi Tape. As I love birds, Steampunk, and AALL and Create's Layer-It-Up Washi Tapes, I had to use the Techno Tweet Layer It Up Washi Tape 124 by AALL and Create. I also used AALL and Create's Garden Gears Clear Stamp Set 1229 and the Multilayered Cogs Clear Stamp Set 664, 

Apply the Techno Tweet Layer It Up Washi Tape 124 by AALL and Create to Mixed Media paper. I ended up making four copies because I was on a roll. Irregularly cut around the image, except for the ends of the pipe which were closely trimmed. Use a black pen to edge the image panel. Set aside.

Brush Soft Cygnet Elements Ink by Lavinia Stamps onto the top portion of a 7" x 5" piece of Mixed Media paper to create a background panel. Brush Bermuda Elements Ink onto the bottom and sides of the panel. Use a water-filled Fine Spray Misters by Spectrum Noir to mist the panel. Heat set. 

Brush Mermaid and Blue Atoll Elements Inks along the bottom part of the panel. Mist and heat set again. Brush Lemon Drop Elements Ink onto the splotchy areas. Thoroughly heat set the panel and flatten it as much as possible.

Trim the panel to 6.75" by 4.75" and place it onto the base of a stamping platform. Position the Garden Gears Clear Stamp Set 1229  by AALL and Create facedown on the right side of the background panel. Use low-tack tape to cover the flower on the stamp, ink the tape-covered stamp with Morning Mist VersaFine Clair Ink by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko, remove the tape, and stamp. 

Position the Multilayered Cogs Clear Stamp 664 by AALL and Create facedown in the center of the background panel then stamp with Morning Mist VersaFine Clair Ink. Position the cogs stamp on the left side and stamp with Morning Mist VersaFine Clair Ink. Use Morning Mist VersaFine Clair Ink to edge the panel, then heat set the entire panel.

Use Russet Orange Elements Inks by Lavinia Stamps to ink a small piece of Mixed Media paper. Heat set it. Spray the inked paper with Cattail Copper Brown Stardust Spray from the Autumn Leaves Stardust Spray Set  by Lindy's Stamp Gang and heat set. Use a Nails and Screws cutting die to cut the paper and use a silver metallic pen to add additional detail. Use a Steampunk Pipes cutting die set to cut cut the faucet, the gauge, and the pipes. 

Brush a small piece of Mixed Media paper with Soft Cygnet Elements Ink. Use the gauge die to cut it to create the gauge's face. Use a black marker to edge all the die-cuts and a black fine-liner to emphasize the embossed details.

Adhere the Techno Tweet Layer It Up Washi Tape panel to the background panel. Adhere the screws and nails die-cuts as shown. Adhere the faucet to the right side of the Washi-Tape pipe and the pipes and gauges to the left side. 

Use a stamping platform and Morning Mist VersaFine Clair Ink to add the sentiments to the card front. 

Adhere the card front to a grey 7" x 5" card. Adhere the clear red heart epoxy stickers to finish the card.

Strong Women & Strong Coffee: A Spring Mixed Media Card

🌸 Creating the Spring Gel Print

I started by pulling out my gel plate and creating a background using soft spring-inspired colors. Gel printing is one of my favorite ways to build interesting backgrounds because every print is a little different and full of natural texture.

Once the print was dry, I stamped one of my favorite coffee images from the Scrapcosy 13 by PaperArtsy.

To add a little sparkle and dimension, I heat embossed the image using WOW! Embossing Powder in Mai Tai, which gives the background a beautiful shimmering finish.

🎨 Adding a Painted Focal Image

To make the design pop, I stamped the same coffee image again on a separate piece of paper.

This time, I colored it using Mattints in:

• Dragonfly

• The Pink

• Glow

These translucent paints add such a gorgeous stained-glass look when layered.

 

Once everything was dry, I carefully fussy cut the image and popped it onto the card front for extra dimension.

✨ Finishing Touches

To complete the card, I added:

• A thank-you sentiment strip from Darkroom Door

• A hand-drawn frame to bring everything together and give the card a finished, artsy look

  
  
   

The combination of the soft spring colors, sparkly embossing, and layered focal image makes this card feel cheerful and celebratory.

Christmas Holly

Hello!  We've got "Anything Goes" this week at Topflight Stamps, and I'm sharing a Christmas card to put away for later this year!  I started with a pretty marble-ish piece of paper from Craft Consortium Ink Drops Ocean Paper pad, because it reminds me of a frozen pond.  I splattered it with Lavinia Snow White Chalk Paint and set aside to dry.  With a Crealies Rectangle die, I cut a piece of white paper and stamped a sentiment from Creative Expressions "Tis The Season" stamp set with Versafine Clair Nocturne Black ink.  I dragged the edges of the rectangle with WOW! Clear Ultra Slow Drying embossing ink pad, then sprinkled on WOW! Pure Platinum embossing powder and hit it with a heat tool.  I also used some of the platinum embossing powder in random spots on the sentiment panel, and used the heat tool from underneath the paper so it wouldn't blow around.  On a scrap piece of cardstock, I stamped two holly clusters from Visible Image "Christmas Robin" with Memento Tuxedo ink.  Then I colored, fussy cut, and glued them to the sentiment panel.  Thanks for joining me, hope you have a terrific day! ~ Colleen

Trio of Inky Butterflies Birthday Card

Hello, Lisa Hoel here. This week at Topflight Stamps our theme is "Anything Goes"! I decided to add to my birthday card stash with this week's card.

The base is a gel print background from my stash. I used the Crafty Individuals Trio of Inky Butterflies stamp and Twilight ink to stamp on top of it. I also embossed the butterfly image with clear embossing powder to give it some shine. The happy birthday sentiment (Go To Words) I embossed with gold embossing powder.
