From Leftover to Lovely: A Quick Watercolor Thank You Card

Hello friends! Ericka from Strangely Creative here, and today I’m sharing a quick watercolor card that came together using something I already had on hand—a leftover panel from a previous project.

This is one of my favorite ways to create:
👉 No pressure. No waste. Just build on what’s already started.

My background was created earlier using the Steampunk Soiree Magicals from Lindy's Gang.

These powders give such rich, moody tones and layered color variation—perfect for building texture without extra effort.

To add depth, I stamped over the panel using the Sara Naumann 51 with Versafine Clair Twilight. This subtle stamping helps break up the background and adds visual interest.

Next, I brought in a focal image using the Tracy Scott 98. I stamped and heat embossed the design using WOW! Embossing Powder, which adds that elegant shimmer and helps the image stand out against the textured background.

To complete the card, I added:

  • A sentiment from Darkroom Door
  • A couple of Hunkydory gems for sparkle
  • Simple layering to keep the focus on the textures

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope this inspires you to use those leftover pieces and turn them into something beautiful.

Have a wonderful week creating.

Nesting Robins

Hello!  You've got Colleen here for an Anything Goes week at Topflight Stamps!  Considering we're in springtime, I have birds and nests on my mind.  I needed a New Home card for someone special, so I pulled out Visible Image "Christmas Robin" stamps as well as PaperArtsy Alison Bomber "House & Home" stamp set.  On a scrap of cardstock, I used Versafine Clair ink in Fallen Leaves to stamp the birds (mom and baby), then fussy-cut them out.  I had some punched leaves from my stash to snuggle around them to create a nest vibe.  I used Versafine Onyx Black ink to stamp the sentiment and add it toward the top of the card.  It's a quote from Laura Ingalls Wilder: "Home is the nicest word there is."  I also added some pearls as "eggs" in the nest.  These are from Hunkydory.  One of my fave accents!

Hope you have a great day! ~ Colleen

AALL & Create Wedding Card

Hello, Lisa Hoel here. This week at Topflight Stamps our theme is Anything Goes! I decided this was a great opportunity to make my son's wedding card.

First I created a soft background using Lindy's Stamp Gang Moon Shadow Mist - Gossamer Gold. I went light on the mist and used lots of water so it would be a subtle background. It still has plenty of glimmer though and catches the light nicely! I stamped the flowers (Petal Therapy #684) over it with waterproof ink and then added some watercolor.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out the Topflight Stamps store for a wide selection of different and hard to find stamps, stencils and other paper crafting supplies from all around the world! Also keep an eye here on the Topflight Stamps blog. There is new inspiration posted often!

Cheers!

It's Tuesday which means you've got Kathi here to share a card with you. It's an "Anything Goes" week so I created a card celebrating a favorite pasttime with the Village Pub Clear Stamp Set from the Architectural Collection by Jamie Rodgers for Creative Expressions. I also used the Spring Sprouts Die Set 49 by AALL and Create and the Grunge Midtones 6x6 Patterned Paper Pad by Craft Consortium.

Here it is!

Use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko to stamp the pub scene from the Village Pub Clear Stamp Set from the Architectural Collection by Jamie Rodgers for Creative Expressions twice — once onto white Copic friendly cardstock and once onto repositionable sticker paper.

Use Copic markers to color the pub, trees, and foliage.

Fussy-cut the sticker paper version and place it over its counterpart on the image panel as a mask. Use the largest die from the Spring Sprouts Die Set 49 by AALL and Create to cut the image panel. Trim the bottom off of the die-cut.

Brush or sponge Della Blue Elements Ink by Lavinia Stamps over the masked image to create a blue sky. Use an Isopropyl-filled  Fine Spray Mister by Spectrum Noir to mist the image panel die-cut. This step evens out the ink blending and mottles the inked background.

Remove the mask from the image panel die-cut. Finish coloring the patio with toner grey Copic markers.

Cut a piece of patterned paper from the Grunge Midtones 6x6 Patterned Paper Pad by Craft Consortium to 6" x 4.25".

Use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp the wine glass from the Village Pub Clear Stamp Set on the bottom right corner. Thoroughly clean and dry the wine glass stamp, then stamp it again next to the other wine glass. Use Copic markers to cut color the wine in the glasses. Use a white colored pencil to add highlights to the wine glasses.

Use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp the "Cheers!" sentiment from the Village Pub Clear Stamp Set on the upper left corner as shown.

Use a black marker to edge the image panel, then adhere it to a white A6 card. Use glue to add irridescent white sequins above the wine glasses to finish the card.

A Spring Card with Scripted Florals

Hello friends! Ericka from Strangely Creative here, and today I’m sharing a soft, layered spring card built from a gel press background, delicate florals, and just the right touch of shimmer. Even though the Studio Light Grungy Flowers set I used is currently out of stock, don’t skip this one, this technique works beautifully with any floral stamps you have on hand.

I began with a gel press print using Mattints The Pink from PaperArtsy. This gave me a soft, almost watercolor-like pink base, perfect for a spring palette.

Once dry, I stamped the floral images repeatedly across the background and clear heat embossed them. This adds a subtle raised texture that catches the light without adding more color.

After trimming the panel down to an A2 size, I brought in the shine.

  • A light spray of Cactus Gold Spray for an overall shimmer
  • Splatters using the Victorian Bouquet collection for extra color variation

These small details add movement and keep the soft background from feeling flat.

To create a focal point, I stamped one of the flowers again onto white cardstock and colored it using colored pencils in soft yellow tones. This gives a gentle contrast against the pink background without overpowering it. I layered the flower directly over one of the embossed images to create dimension and continuity.

To complete the card, I added:

  • A sentiment from the Scrapcosy 29
  • Light blue ink blending behind the sentiment for contrast
  • Handdrawn frame; and
  • Adhesive layering to bring everything together

The result is soft, layered, and full of subtle detail.

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope this inspires you to create something soft and spring-inspired this week.

Rosehips for Spring

Hello all!  Colleen here with you on this lovely Thursday.  For our Mother / Springtime themes this week at Topflight Stamps, I've got a pop of color for spring to share with you.  I got to play with the main image from PaperArtsy / Alison Bomber's Rosehip stamp set by using a watercoloring technique.  On watercolor paper I stamped the rosehips image with Versafine Onyx Black ink.  On a clear acrylic stamping block, I smeared some Lavinia Soft Cygnet dye ink and spritzed it with water.  I painted this on the whole panel (except the image) in several stages, to get deepening color in some areas.  Then I painted the image using a few hues of Distress dye inks, plus Lavinia Pixie Green and Truffle dye inks.  I used a couple other stamps from the Rosehips set:  a postage stamp (top right corner) and the sentiments (springtime / rise and put on your foliage), all of these stamped on a scrap piece of white cardstock and properly distressed to look aged.  On the top right and bottom left corners of the watercolor panel, I used the Versafine Onyx Black ink to stamp Chou & Flowers Brittany Text.

Hope you have a wonderful day! ~ Colleen
