Time - A Mixed Media Piece

Greetings! It's Tuesday which means you've got Kathi here to share a project with you. This week the TFS team is focussing on paints, inks, sprays, etc. I do love the excuse to get my mixed media mojo started and to experiment and see what happens. I decided it was time to play with my PaperArtsy stash, specifically Hot Picks Printed Tissue 1Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic PaintsInfusions, and two Ink and the Dog Mini Cling Mounted Stamps.

Here it is:

This project is a bit complicated and I see loads of problems with it now caused by user error. It was my first time using printed tissue on a project, which shows. Anyway I decided to use the clock, the crown, the large butterfly, and the three butterflies from the Hot Picks Printed Tissue 1 by PaperArtsy. Each image was outlined with a water pen, then torn, painted on the reverse with Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic Paints by PaperArtsy, except for the crown which was colored with Gold Nugget Essential Metallic Marker and another brighter gold metallic marker. These elements were set aside to dry.

The excess Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic Paints, leftover from painting the tissue paper, were smooshed onto a panel of mixed media paper rather randomly until the panel was mostly covered. Shark Mattints by PaperArtsy was brushed over the entire panel. heat set, and then another heavier coat of Shark Mattint was added. While the panel was wet, I sprinkled on some Royal Blood Infusions by PaperArtsy and allowed it to spread a bit before misting it with water.

I tore some pages from an old Butterfly Guide and coated them with a few layers of Shark Mattints to tint them.

Paradise VersaFine Clair Ink by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko was used to stamp the butterfly from the Ink and the Dog Mini MN115 Cling Mounted Stamp by PaperArtsy in the center-ish of the panel. Morning Mist VersaFine Clair Ink by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko was used to stamp the script text from the Ink and the Dog Mini MN124 Cling Mounted Stamp by PaperArtsy three places on the image panel. and Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink  by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko was used to stamp the checkerboard from an older PaperArtsy stamp randomly around the image panel. The panel was heat set, then another layer of Shark Mattints by PaperArtsy was brushed overtop.

The butterfly guide torn text paper, the clock, butterfly wings, and crown painted tissue paper were all adhered to the panel with Shark Mattints, then several layers of Shark Mattints were painted overtop. The panel was heat set.

The edges were tattered with an Paper Distresser and a scissors blade. The high points (wrinkles) of the tissue paper and the edges were touched with Classic Treasure Gold.

Black mixed media cardstock was cut with alphabet dies, layered, and adhered in place to add the sentiment. The panel was matted onto black mixed media cardstock to finish the piece.
