Quick & Whimsical Christmas Cards with Paper

Need a few Christmas cards that are quick to make but still full of personality?

Hello crafty friends! Ericka from Strangely Creative here, and today I’m adding a few more cards to my Christmas stash with the adorable PaperArtsy Kate Crane 024 stamp set. These whimsical images are so much fun that I decided to keep things simple—just stamp, add some color, and let those quirky little characters do all the work!

Sometimes you don’t need lots of layers and techniques to create something fun.

Starting with the Christmas Cuties

I started by stamping several of the images from the PaperArtsy Kate Crane 024 set. I love all the personality packed into these little characters! Each image has so many fun details that I knew I didn’t need to create complicated backgrounds or add lots of embellishments. Instead, I decided to pull out my PaperArtsy Mattints and simply have fun coloring.

Coloring with Mattints

Mattints are perfect for this type of project because their translucent color allows all those wonderful stamped details to remain visible.

I added different Mattint colors to the images, letting the colors overlap and blend in places rather than worrying about making everything perfect. The loose coloring works especially well with the playful Kate Crane style and made these cards quick and relaxing to create.

Creating a Winter Sky

For the sky, I wanted a little more depth around the edges without overwhelming the images. I added PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Baltic Blue into the corners and then used Shark Mattint to blend and soften the color toward the center.

I love the way the deeper blue frames the scene while the Mattint creates a softer transition around the characters.

It’s a simple detail, but it gives the cards just enough atmosphere to make those whimsical Christmas images stand out.

Keeping It Quick & Simple

One of my favorite things about these cards is how easily they came together.

No complicated layering.

No elaborate backgrounds.

Just some fun stamped images, translucent color, and a little blending. When you’re making several Christmas cards, or realize December is getting closer a little faster than expected (yikes), projects like these are perfect for building up your holiday card stash without spending hours on each one.

Cards Today, Tags Tomorrow!

I had so much fun playing with these images that I’m definitely not putting this stamp set away yet.

I think these little characters would be adorable on Christmas gift tags, too! Stamp a few onto smaller pieces of cardstock, add some quick Mattint coloring, punch a hole, add ribbon, and you have coordinating handmade tags to go with your gifts.

I love finding stamp sets that can work for more than one holiday project.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope these Christmas cuties inspire you to pull out your holiday stamps, have some fun with your colors, and get a little head start on those Christmas cards and tags.

Have a wonderful week and happy Christmas crafting! 🎄🎁✨
