Greetings! It's Tuesday which means that you've got Kathi here to share a project with you. Truth be told, this was supposed to be a journal page, but morphed into an encouragement card when I realized that I measured my journal incorrectly, which proves the adage "Measure twice, cut once!" Alas.
Anyways, it's downright warm in these parts which means it's time to get to the shore and/or on the water, so I opted to use an image and sentiment stamp from PaperArtsy's Lynne Perrella 001 Rubber Cling Stamp Set with a compass and scenery stamp from the Scrapcosy 11 Rubber Cling Mounted Stamp Set.
Here's the card.
I started the card by stamping the ship-headed woman from the Lynne Perrella 001 Rubber Cling Stamp Set onto white cardstock and onto repositionable label paper. The label paper version was fussy-cut and placed over its counterpart on the image panel.
The scene from the Scrapcosy 11 Rubber Cling Mounted Stamp Set was stamped over the masked image, then the boat on left was stamped onto a scrap of repositionable label paper, fussy-cut, and placed over its counterpart.
A clear ruler was placed horizontally across the image panel to differentiate the sea from the sky. The largest brush from the Black Blending Brushes by Time for Tea Designs was used to brush Della Blue Elements Ink by Lavinia Stamps over a cloud stencil to create a cloudy sky.
The ruler was then moved to cover the sky and a piece of torn cardstock was placed under the focal image. I used a Blender by Lavinia Stamps to sponge Bermuda, and Mermaid Elements Inks between the ruler and the torn paper to create the ocean.
Two colors of Copic friendly light brown ink were sponged on the base of the image panel to create the sand.
The masks were lifted and the focal image was colored with Copic markers. White gel pen accents were added to the sea to create white caps and at the shoreline to create sea foam. Clear and Gold Glitter Gel pens were used to add accents to her jewelry and to the brass ornaments on the ship.
Della Blue Elements Ink was used to stamp the compass from the Scrapcosy 11 Rubber Cling Mounted Stamp Set and the sentiment from the Lynne Perrella 001 Rubber Cling Stamp Set.
The image panel was edged then adhered to a 5" x 7" white card.
