Yet Another Calendar Card!

It's Tuesday so you've got Kathi to share a project with you. I've made another calendar card since a New Year's resolution was to actually use all the mini calendars that I purchased AND mail them. This card features the cranky, yet adorable Dragon Unmounted Red Rubber Stamp by Katzelkraft standing in front of a castle wall made with the Stones Stencil by Lavinia Stamps.

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko was used to stamp the Dragon Unmounted Red Rubber Stamp by Katzelkraft twice — once onto Bristol Paper and once onto masking paper.

The Dragon  on the Bristol Paper was colored with Copic markers. The masking paper Dragon  was fussy-cut and placed over his counterpart on the image panel as a mask.

A piece of low-tack tape was placed horizontally over the bottom of the Dragon .

A castle stencil that I've had forever was placed onto the image panel towards the top. Della Blue then Confetti Elements Inks by Lavinia Stamps were brushed over the ramparts of the castle to create a sky.

The stencil was inverted to cover the ramparts/crenellations and light grey ink was brushed between the castle stencil and the tape to start a stone castle wall. The Stones Stencil by Lavinia Stamps was placed over the light grey inked area, then darker grey ink was brushed over the stencil onto the image panel.

My "pouncy tool" (looks like steel wool attached to a stamp block) was used to randomly pounce Russet OrangePaprikaSaharaBermuda, and Graphite Elements Inks by Lavinia Stamps onto the stones to make them more look stonier.

Watercolor markers were used to outline the rocks and add details to the castle's crenellation/ramparts.

The tape was removed. With the mask still covering the Dragon, tan ink was brushed along the bottom of the image panel. Chalk pencils were used to add shadows and detail to the ground and yellow palette chalk was used to add a glow around the dragon.

The Dragon's mask was finally removed and glittery watercolors were used to add details to the Dragon's scales, eyes, and the ornaments on his head and tail.

Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko was used to stamp the sentiment from the Classic Sentiments Clear Stamp Set by Heffy Doodle onto Copic colored white cardstock. A flag die was used to cut the sentiment. A thin strip die was used to cut metallic copper cardstock. The thin piece of copper cardstock was adhered over the Dragon on the image panel. The flag was adhered to the copper cardstock "flagpole" as shown.

The image panel was edged with black ink, trimmed to 4.625" x 6.625" and matted with a piece of 4.75" x 6.75" metallic copper cardstock. The mini calendar received the same matting treatment. The image panel was then adhered to a 5" x 7" black card.
