Happy Halloween Card

Greetings! You've got Kathi here to share a project with you. This week our focus is on Halloween and I'm back with a second card! Halloween reminds me of Edgar Allen Poe, which makes me think of ravens. Topflight Stamp carries several raven and crow stamps. I decided to use the Rook and Roll Clear Polymer Stamp Set by Pink Ink Designs. It features two large raven/crows stamps, four raven/crow silhouette stamps, and several smaller supporting stamps.

Here's my card!

Nocturne VersaFine Clair Inks by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko was used to stamp the largest raven from the Rook and Roll Clear Photopolymer Stamp Set twice — once onto a panel of mixed media paper and once onto repositionable sticker paper. The sticker paper version was fussy-cut and placed over its counterpart on the image panel to mask the image. One of the circle masks from the Acetate Circle Masks by Lavinia Stamps was placed behind the raven's head.

Midnight Blue Elements Ink by Lavinia Stamps was brushed around the outside of the image panel and over the top part of the moon. Dark Denim Elements Ink was brushed onto the panel over the darker blue, the masked moon, and the masked raven. Blue Lagoon Elements Inks by Lavinia Stamps was brushed over the masked moon and raven onto the image panel.

White paint/ink was misted with water using the Fine Spray Misters by Spectrum Noir. A paint brush was loaded with the diluted white paint/ink, tapped with a pencil, to splatter the image panel.

A large branch stencil was placed under the raven's feet, then Pinecone VersaFine Clair Ink by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko was brushed over the stencil onto the image panel. Since the stencil had an open design on the branches, I used a brown watercolor marker to fill in the spaces.

The moon mask and the raven's mask were removed. Watercolor markers were used to color the raven. I must admit that I'm not thrilled with the results. I clearly need a LOT more practice.

The image panel was trimmed, edged with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko, and adhered to silvery glitter cardstock. It too was edged with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Inks by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko because I can't abide white edges! The matted image panel was adhered to a 5.5" x 8.5" card. I misplaced my beloved Classic Sentiments Clear Stamp Set by Heffy Doodle, so I used a Happy Halloween sentiment sticker to finish the card.
