Fly Away

Hello!! It's Jennalee from The Papered Soiree here today. I am excited to share my first project as a member of the Topflight team. This altered spool was inspired by the Studio Light "Fly Away" set.

I began painting the spool with Paper Artsy Fresco Paint in Taupe. The flowers were painted using Paper Artsy Fresco Paint in Mulled Wine.

I adhered a milk cap to the top of the spool and then adhered the paper doll.

Using a portion of the Studio Light "Fly Away" stamp I stamped the wings text onto a label and adhered to a glass vial filled with glitter. Moss and the painted flowers were applied around the paper doll and vial.

I painted a piece of book text using Paper Artsy Fresco Finish in Stone and then stamped 3 sets of the wings from the "Fly Away" set. After fussy cutting the wings, I layered them and adhered them to the back of the paper doll.

Stay Warm!

Hello all!  Betsy Birge here bringing you a little bit of winter in the middle of summer!

This card was easy to make with Akexandra Renke's Washi Tape and 2 Stemple stamp sets brought to you by Studio Forty and Topflight Stamps.  I used a piece of pearlized white card stock and stamped my red images with a hybrid ink and heat embossed them with clear embossing ink.

I used the Washi Tape around all the edges and added little clay snowflakes and Nuvo Dream Drops.  I added tiny red red Crystal drops on each snowflake!  I mounted my panel onto a piece of red silk card stock and my card was finished!

I have enjoyed my month of being Guest Designer and working with the Topflight Stamp Team!
Hope to see you all again soon!
Betsy

Let It Snow

Hello, everyone!  Toni here with you today sharing a Christmas in July card. Can you believe the year is flying by so quickly? Eek!

I used the Craft Emotions Christmas Sentiments and Decorations set along with Red Chili and Wild Mushroom Prism Inks as well as a white pigment ink to stamp the background. I was so very pleased with how well the ink showed up on the kraft.

I then used Versamark and Ranger White Detail Fine Embossing Powder to emboss the Aall & Create Deer onto thick vellum.

Isn't that whimsical image amazing? I plan to watercolor it for another card in the future for sure. And the embossing is to die for. I love how that turned out!

Santa's Sleigh Ride…

Hello! Wishing for some Christmas coolness during all this summer heat? This week on the Topflight Stamps blog you will get your wish because the team is showcasing Christmas in July projects. I created a card using the delightfully detailed Santa's Sleigh Ride stamp from Crafty Individuals.

I stamped the image onto watercolor paper and then painted it. I just love all the fine detail in the stamp. (Tip - use a stamping platform so if you don't get a perfectly clear stamped image the first time, you can re-ink and fix it.)

You can find some more information about this card in my blog post. I hope you have a great rest of the week and keep cool! Check back in daily to see what else the team is cooking up in their crafty Christmas kitchens. ;-)

A Little Christmas in July!!

Hello, Karen Bearse here starting off the week on Mix Media Monday, with a little Christmas in July fun! I decided to get my Christmas notebook going so I can start tracking my lists. This can be anything from buying Christmas prezzies, wish lists from my kids, & also most important the crafty things I am liking for the season!

My Christmas List Book started as a store bought notebook. I liked the gold embossed circles & knew they would make a good resist.

Using Fresco Finish paint, watered down to create a water color look made for a nice background. A baby wipe was used to gently clean the paint off the gold circles.
Crafty Individuals

This is a very elegant stamp by Crafty Individuals. I used it for the focal point on my cover.

I started by stamping with Distress Oxides & adding Seth Apter's embossing powder by Emerald Creek in Dusk & Aegean Sea.

Next I gave it a bit of a mix media treatment using alcohol markers to color it & added more Seth Apter embossing powders to create a glossy look. Using an embossing pen simply ink up the areas & sprinkle embossing powder. Tap off the excess & heat set.  I used the transparent emboss from the Mediterranean Kit so the details still show through and with like colors to just give my stamped image a bit of a pop.

Lastly I cut 2019 out of cardboard, painted it in Claret Fresco Finish & added a layer of Vintage Beeswax Emboss. Popped on a flower & my book is complete.

Dots to Diamonds Flowers

Happy Friday! Ericka here with a fun card using the new Hunkydory Dots to Diamonds Pad. These pads have so many fun designs to work with and create unique cards using pretty gems.

Here is the pad I used but check out the huge selection over at the shop as there are so many fun and pretty designs to work with.

These gems are so pretty and the colors are beautiful. Special note about the gems: they have a little adhesive on the back but I found it helpful to use a little glue to ensure they stay put on your creation.

There are so many ways to use these pretty gems.

If gems aren't your jam (lol) you can also use Nuvo drops or other supplies in your stash to create fun looks. Here I experimented with some fun colors to see how Nuvo drops would work.

For more information on how I created these feel free to check out my blog Strangely Creative. Thanks for stopping by and have a colorful weekend!

Encouragement Card with Guest Designer Betsy Birge

Hello Everyone!  Betsy here on the blog today giving you a full tutorial of how I created this awesome encouragement card using a Studio Light stamp set called Little Ladies from the Signature Collection of Art by Marlene!

I just love this stamp set and the encouraging words! First I took a piece of watercolor paper cut bigger than an A2 size card base so I could cut it down when I was done. I used 2 shades of Distress Oxide Ink (Mermaid Lagoon and Squeezed Lemonade) and ink smooshed them. I did it about 3 times so I could get my desired coverage, drying in-between. I then splattered my panel with each of the colors, again drying after each time. Then I splattered with water and blotted it off. I dried this with my heat tool.

Once this was dry I cut to 5.25" x 4". Then, using my stamp positioner I stamped the background and the sentiment with a hybrid black ink. Next, I used a Penelope Dee Stencil - Victoria Stencil Abloom, and using Brustus Munroe Glitter Glaze in Fallen Snow, I spread a fairly thin coat over the upper part of the panel and spread it out to about the middle on a diagonal.

While that was drying, I stamped and colored with Copics my main image.  I used a bit of Ink on 3's Liquid Fairy Dust on her eyes and sweat and then fussy cut it out.

Once my background was dry it was time to assemble my card.  For my base I used a top folding A2 size card that matched the Mermaid Lagoon ink color. I adhered my inked and stenciled base to it using very sticky double sided tape since it was watercolor paper. For my main image I used foam tape to pop her up and make her stand out. And that completed my card!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.  Below are the products from Topflight stamps that I used:
