Take Me to the Ocean -- A Canvas

Greetings! It's Kathi here with a Steampunk canvas with Stamperia's wonderful new Sea World Octopus Stamp Set, the Mechanical Sea World Thick Stencil, and  Visible Image's Dare to Swim Clear Polymer Stamp Set.

Here it is!

This is one of those projects that took on a life of its own after I was ready to bin it! My original intention was to create a card, but I didn't like the way the tentacles were colored.  Then I couldn't bear to trim the image panel, had no room for the sentiment, and then decided to just make a canvas since I love all things Steampunk!

The Octopus, from the Sea World Octopus Stamp Set, was stamped onto a5.5" x 8.5"  piece of white metallic paper and onto mask paper. The mask version was fussy-cut and placed over the image panel. Distress inks in shades of blue were sponged over the image. More Distress ink was sponged over the Sea World stencil onto the image panel. The greenery and fish from the Dare to Swim Clear Polymer Stamp Set were stamped onto the image panel. The mask was lifted and the Octopus image was colored with Copic markers. The image panel has a lot of shimmer that I wish you could see!

If you'd like more information about this canvas, please pop over to my blog, Kat's Tales of Stamping.

Mixed Media Monday with Gwen LaFleur Products

Good morning, Lisa Hoel here! I still have a few Creativation projects I haven't shared yet on the blog. One of the really fun parts of the show is getting to take workshops with awesome designers from the industry. I was fortunate enough to take a class taught by Gwen LaFleur and created this fab collage project!

Fun details:

Love the bead accents!

We learned several collage techniques and made a glorious mess with Fresco Paint, stencils, ink and stamping! Gwen's new embossing powders from Emerald Creek added some lovely finishing touches.

Topflight Stamps carries most of the supplies needed to create a mixed media project such as this! Take a look and browse around.

Express Yourself with Darkroom Door's Sentiment Strips!

Hi there! It's Kathi here, I'm visiting you on Friday this week because of the big Birthday Blog Hop! We're sharing projects using Darkroom Door Sentiment Strip Rubber Stamps this week. If you haven't seen this fabulous group of stamps, you really ought to check them out because they're ever so versatile and useful.

Here's my card using the Make Art Sentiment Strip stamp, the Paint Brushes stamp, and the Paint Tube Stamps. All of the stamps are by Darkroom Door.

As you can see, I decided to use several of the sentiments from the strip, which were stamped onto vellum and stapled over the swash of paint connecting the paint tubes and paint brushes.

If you'd like to know more about how I made this card, pop over to my blog, Kat's Tales of Stamping.

Darkroom Door - Be-you-tiful

Hi Everyone,

Cornelia here today!

I made a background using glimmer mist sprays on water color paper. After it dried I stenciled the flowers and added white gel pen accents. Also added some black dots with a sharpie. The sentimetn is also from Darkroom Door and is heat embossed. Added some sparkly gems.

Don't forget our birthday celebration - you get all the information HERE

Lightbulb Moment

Hello, everyone!  This week we're focusing on the Darkroom Door sentiment strips that are rather new to the shop. There are a bunch of different ones; I'm using the Make Art one here. Isn't it fab?!

I stamped it using Prism Ink Wild Mushroom. I was really inspired by the sentiments and thought the IndigoBlue Steampunkesque image paired perfectly with it.

I stamped the image using Versafine Onyx Black. The stippling is a wonderful accident, resulting from using the more textured side of a piece of watercolor cardstock.

In keeping with the creative sentiments theme, I sponged the Aall and Create Steam Cogs Stencil with Prism Ink Canary Yellow.  I stamped the Visible Image Destination Unknown sentiment in Prism Ink Fire Coral.

I used Prism Ink Fire Coral for the Crafty Individuals Wild Flowers and Ferns Silhouette and a combination of French Navy and Blackcurrant Jam for the circles from PaperArtsy Eclectica Tracy Scott 24.

The IndigoBlue Steampunkesque sentiment is in French Navy too.  Such yummy colors!

I'll be back with you next week. Until then, why don't you check out the new products that have come into the TFS shop!  You can shop your heart out using this 12% off coupon!

Darkroom Door Stamps Sentiment Strips Cards

Hello friends!  It's Autumn Clark from SewPaperPaint here with you today to share a few cards featuring the Darkroom Door Sentiment Strip Stamps.  I made these cards for our local stamp convention as samples for the Topflight Stamps booth.  These sentiment stamps are truly versatile and incredibly fun to play with.

For this card I featured the Happy Birthday Sentiment Stamp.  I embossed it in navy EP over a sanded metallic kraft core panel, that I splashed with watered inks to achieve a mercury glass effect.

For the background I embossed the Starry Night Background Stamp in white and spritzed it with water, then added In the Navy Infusions powder to the top of the panel and spritzed with more water, letting it bleed downward.  I finished with a die cut star and some fibers to make a "shooting star" to wish upon.

I made a few other simple cards to showcase the Sentiment Strips versatility.  Here, I partially stamped a portion of the Thank You Sentiment Stamp with Prism Artic Mist and clear embossed it along the bottom of my panel.  I then stamped the Fun Flowers Background Stamp in Versamark ink and embossed with Aqua EP.  I used the Artic Mist ink pad direct to paper (DTP) onto the panels to add more color.  I just LOVE the texture of the foam on these pads.  It is perfect for DTP techniques...

And this DTP technique might just be the most fun of all!  For this fun card, I clear embossed the Happy Birthday Sentiment Stamp three times on my background.  Then I applied the Prism Ombre Ink Pad in Purples across my card panel repeatedly to make these stripes!  It works a charm!   I stamped a portion of the sentiment in the darkest purple of the ombre pad and clear embossed to make my focal image.  I die cut it and layered on a torn purple background with a row of Diamond Sparkles Gemstones in Pretty Pinks using the Silhouette Pick-Me-Up Tool.

Finally, I did a super simple bookmark or gift bag hanger stamping the Happy Birthday Sentiment Stamp in Versafine and sponging a rainbow with Distress Inks.  You could make dozens of these in an hour and have them on hand as birthday treats for coworkers.

I hope this has given you some new ideas.  Thanks for joining me, Autumn
