Happy Monday, friends! It's Walter on the blog with you today and I hope that everyone's week is off to a great start. The team's theme this week is "Thank You cards." I think that this type of card is the most versatile in regard to design. It may be as simple or complex or you'd like it to be - there's no right or wrong. I really love all of the images in the new PaperArtsy Postcard People Printed Tissue. They're fabulous vintage portraits, post cards, papers, and such. I couldn't wait to use it and thought that this would be a great time to break it out. I made one of the images the central focus of my design and then added in some die cutting. That's it - a very simple but beautiful design. Let me know what you think!
I started by cutting my cardstock. I used an A2 kraft panel, 4"x5.25" gold panel, and a 3.75"x5" white panel. I adhered the kraft panel to an A2 card base and set it aside.
I took a little bit of the A Bit Jaded Infusions Dye sprayed it with water. I used several sprays of water and mixed it together with a paint brush. The color changes quite a bit depending on how much water you mix with the powder. I used quite a bit to make it less intense. The result was a beautiful vintage looking green that matched the green stripes in the image I chose for this design. Next, I took my white panel and painted it with this mixture and let it dry.
Once dry, I used scissors to cut out my image from the PaperArtsy Postcard People Printed Tissue Paper. I knew that I needed to trim the piece down and so I used the Deckle Edge blade on my paper cutter and trimmed it down to 3.5"x4.75". Distress Collage Medium was added to the back of the tissue paper and I adhered it down to the jade green colored panel. I then used a combination of Tea Dye and Vintage Photo Distress Inks to add some grunge around the edges of the combined panel.
I knew that I wanted to die cut the word thanks in this panel so that it would appear as inlayed gold when I adhere this panel to the gold panel. I arranged my die and die cut the sentiment using the Studio Light Essentials Word Die - Thanks die. I made sure to keep the little paper pieces in the middle of the letters a, k, and s.
I adhered the panel to the gold panel and then glued down the little paper pieces into the a, k, and s. This panel was then adhered to the card base, and I added more Tea Dye and Vintage Photo Distress Ink around the edges of the card. With that done, I added a topcoat of Distress Collage Medium to protect the tissue paper image and make sure that it stays adhered.
I die cut three small leaf branches with a die from the Creative Expressions Rambling Rose Stamp & Die Set with a scrap of the gold cardstock. There was some of the A Bit Jaded color left over and so I used it to tarnish one of the gold branches to age it.
I adhered the other two gold branches to the upper right-hand corner of the image and then glued the tarnished one on top of them. I decided to use these as my embellishments for the card.
Just like that . . . the card was completed. While a very simple design, I wanted to keep it that as to keep it looking more refined and less busy. I think it's a beautiful way to say thank you!
I hope that you enjoyed this time with me on the blog today! Let me know if you use this printed tissue paper as I'd love to see your creations. I'll be back with you again next Monday. Until then . . . be well!
