Believe in Magic

It's Tuesday so you've got Kathi here to share a project with you. This week the team is focusing on Mixed Media. I've used rubber stamps, dye ink, pigment ink, Starburst Sprays, Copic Markers, heat embossing, ccrylic paint markers, re-inkers, and cutting dies to create a Halloween card.

Here's my card created with the KC13 Cling Rubber Stamp Set by Kate Crane for PaperArtsy, Screamin' Banchee Black and Witch's Potion Purple from the Haunted Halloween Starburst Spray Set by Lindy's Stamp Gang.

Use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko to stamp the standing Magic Woman from the KC13 Cling Rubber Stamp Set by Kate Crane for PaperArtsy onto white cardstock. Fussy-cut the image and color it with Copic markers. use glitter pens to a touch of sparkle to her hair and her dress. Use a gold metallic paint pen to color the star on her dress and the one on her head band. Edge her with a black pen and set her aside.

Spray a 5" x 8" piece of Bristol Paper or other heavy-weight, water-friendly paper with the Witch's Potion Purple from the Haunted Halloween Starburst Spray Set by Lindy's Stamp Gang and heat set. This color is a shimmery purple/teal blue and is absolutely lovely. However, my Magic Woman got lost on the background.  So I gave the panel another spray with the Screamin' Banchee Black from the Haunted Halloween Starburst Spray Set and heat set the panel. This darkened the panel and added navy blue to the mix, which worked much better for my purposes.

Green Oasis VersaFine Clair Inks by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko was smushed onto a strip of Bristol Paper, heat set, and cut with a grassy border die. This was glued onto the bottom of the background panel, which was then trimmed to 4.75" x 6.75", and edged with a black pen. The background panel was adhered to a 5" x 7" black card.

An anti-static pouch was pounced onto the background panel and onto the leftover strip of background paper. The background panel was then placed onto a stamping platform. The moon with the hanging star from the KC13 Cling Rubber Stamp Set by Kate Crane was positioned face-down onto the top left of the image panel. It was inked with embossing ink, gold detail embossing powder was added, the excess powder was dumped back into the container, and the moon/star was heat set.

The leftover strip of sprayed background paper was placed onto the the stamping platform. The "believe in magic" sentiment was placed facedown on the strip. It was inked with embossing ink, gold detail embossing powder was added, the excess powder was dumped back into the container, and the sentiment was heat set. The sentiment was die-cut with a small rectangle die and edged with a black pen. A slightly larger rectangle die was used to cut black cardstock which was used to mat the sentiment.

A white acrylic paint pen was used to color the moon. Unfortunately, the background bled through so I tried to add white pearlescent chalk to the moon. That didn't work either. As a last ditch attempt, I painted the moon with Moonlight White Brilliance ink, which also didn't work. Oh well. Pink and green glitter pen were used to add sparkle to the star and the leaves.

A cat die was used to cut the non-textured side of black cardstock. The cat was highlighted with a white chalk pencil. A green glitter pen was used to add a glittery eye to the die-cut.

The Witch Woman and the cat were adhered under the blades of grass as shown. The sentiment die-cut was added to finish the card.
