Flutter Fun with Funky Butterflies

Hello crafty friends! 🌞 Ericka from Strangely Creative here, and I hope your summer is buzzing with sunshine and inspiration. This week, our design team is all aflutter—literally!—because we’re diving into one of my favorite motifs: butterflies. 🦋

Now, I love a good butterfly stamp (I may or may not have a small collection…), but today I’m sharing something extra whimsical—the brand new PaperArtsy Kate Crane 014 set. These funky butterflies stole my heart with their quirky charm, and I had a blast bringing them to life with color.

Let’s talk background magic! ✨ I kicked things off with a gel press print using Lindy’s Magicals—because who doesn’t love a little shimmer and surprise? To add soft texture, I stamped the PaperArtsy Seth Apter ESA44 set in white ink, letting the scripty writing peek through like little secrets in the background.

Next, I reached for the Kate Crane Mini 013 leaf stamps and used Versafine Clair Morning Mist to keep things light and dreamy. I colored them in with PaperArtsy Shadow Mattints, which gave them just the right amount of moody contrast.

Time for the stars of the show! 🌟 I stamped those fabulous butterflies on a separate sheet using Versafine Clair Nocturne for bold, crisp lines. Then came the fun—coloring with PaperArtsy Mattints in Glow, Bellflower, Dragonfly and Foxglove. These paints are so smooth and build-able—perfect for creating soft, layered effects without overpowering the details.

After some fussy cutting (scissors + podcast = my happy place), I fluttered them onto my background, letting them pop off the page. A few gel pen highlights, a hand-drawn border, and a sweet sentiment from the Kate Crane set were the perfect finishing touches.

And voilà—my butterfly card is ready to spread its wings! 🖤

Thanks for hanging out with me today. I hope this little mixed media moment inspires you to grab your butterfly stamps and let your creativity take flight. Have a beautiful, art-filled weekend! 💫

Layered Love: A Mixed Media Card with PaperArtsy Mattints

Hello, crafty friends! Ericka from Strangely Creative here, and today I’m diving into some mixed media fun with PaperArtsy Mattints and my Gel Press plate. These Mattints in The Pink and Jam create the most gorgeous, subtle hues—perfect for building soft yet dynamic backgrounds.

After pulling my print, I added a bold touch using the AALL & Create Hearts stamp with VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink, heat embossing it for extra dimension and shine. To enhance the background even further, I stamped with an older AALL & Create set, similar to the Visual Dream set, in VersaFine Clair Charming Pink—adding layers of dreamy texture. I used the PaperArtsy Fresco Paints in Bubble Gum to add color to my hearts.

To bring everything together, I hand-drew a simple frame to give the design a finished, artistic touch. I love how this card turned out—soft yet full of depth, perfect for sending a little extra love!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Wishing you a creative and inspiring weekend.

Happy crafting!

Deck the Halls with Festive Scraps

Hello friends! Ericka from Strangely Creative here. Christmas crafting is in full swing, and today I’m sharing a festive project that will have you reaching for those little scraps you just can’t bring yourself to throw away. Let’s turn them into something magical—a Christmas tag full of charm and creativity!

Step 1: Scraps to Stunning

I began by gathering those lovely little bits of paper scraps scattered on my craft table—those colors and patterns were just too pretty to part with! I arranged them on a piece of paper until they looked just right, then glued them down to create a textured, layered background.

Step 2: Cutting the Tag

Next, I used the AALL & Create Hexalove Die to transform my scrap-covered paper into the perfect tag shape. I love how the intricate edges from this die add a touch of elegance!

Step 3: Reindeer and Snowman Fun

For the focal point, I turned to the adorable PaperArtsy Kate Crane 007 stamp set featuring a reindeer, snowman, and a playful frame. I stamped the images on a separate piece of paper to keep things crisp and clean.

Step 4: Painting the Magic

Using Mattints in Greenstone, Ladybug, Ash, and Squeezed, I brought the reindeer and snowman to life. These paints add a muted tone to my busy background. Once dry, I carefully cut out the images and adhered them to my tag background, creating a fun and festive scene.

Step 5: Finishing Touches

To finish, I added a sweet sentiment from the Creative Expressions Wordies Sentiment Sheets—they’re a go-to for adding the perfect final touch. A little ribbon tied through the top, and my Christmas tag was complete!

Thank you for stopping by today! I hope this inspires you to dig into your scraps and craft something festive. Have a wonderful weekend and happy crafting!

Until next time,
Ericka

Mixed Media Tag Fun with Paint

Hello friends! Ericka from Strangely Creative here, ready to share a colorful mixed media tag that I had a blast making. I was in the mood to play with some purple and fun textures, so I dove into my stash and came up with a cheerful yet moody tag.

I started with a vibrant gel press print as my base, using PaperArtsy Fresco Paints in Bubble Gum and Byzantium. The bright pinks mixed with the deeper purple created a perfect backdrop with a dreamy, layered effect.

Next, I tore up some PaperArtsy Printed Tissue and used Mattint in Jam and The Pink to adhere the pieces to the tag. I absolutely love working with Mattints because they not only serve as glue for the tissue but also add a hint of color, blending everything together seamlessly. The combination of textures and subtle hues added a lot of dimension to the tag.

I’m a big fan of words on my tags, so I reached for AALL & Create’s Nightshade washi tape. I love how the black and white elements from the washi contrast with the bright background, grounding the design and giving it a touch of mystery. To finish off, I used PaperArtsy Fresco Paint in Eggplant around the edges of the tag. This rich purple helped draw the eye toward the center, creating a focal point and tying all the elements together.

This tag was a joy to create! I love how the colors, textures, and words come together in a cohesive and dynamic design. I hope this inspires you to break out your paints and washi and create something fun today!

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you have a creatively colorful week! Until next time, happy crafting!
