creepy, kooky, freaky, spooky Mixed Media Tag

It's Tuesday which means you've got Kathi here to share a project with you. This week my teammates and I are showcasing Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic Paints by PaperArtsy. If you're not familiar with these paints, I urge you to try them as they are fabulous. There is a wide variety of colors that blend beautifully and the chalk finish gives you a great surface for stamping!

Since it's Halloween season and since I live in the town next to where Charles Addams lived, I had to have the Eclectica ENB19 Cling Rubber Stamp Set by Nicci Battilana since it features characters from the Addams Family and have used it to create this mixed media tag.

I first applied a coat of gesso to my tag. You usually don't have to use gesso with the Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic Paints, but I didn't want to risk ruining it. When it was dry. I made a mask from low tack tape and covered the bottom part of the tag. I added drops of Baltic BluePea CoatChinaLavender, and Amethyst  Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic Paints , all of which are opaque, to a piece of foam. I smooshed the paint onto a craft mat to blend the drops, then applied the paint the top part of the tag.

When the paint was dry, drops of BlueberryEggplant, and Southern Skies Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic Paints, which are translucent or semi-opaque, were added to another piece of foam, The paint was smooshed onto the craft mat to blend the drops, then it was applied to add more variegated blues and purples to the night sky.

The I used another mask to cover the sky area. Drops of Lawn and Gumboots Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic Paints were added to another piece of foam, smooshed onto the craft mat, then applied over the mask to create a lawn. A spiky paint brush was used with Gumboots Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic Paint to add depth and detail to the lawn.

Drops of ChalkBuff, and Stone  Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic Paints were applied to another piece of foam, smooshed onto the craft mat, then applied to a piece of Bristol paper. The tombstone from  Eclectica ENB02 Cling Rubber Stamp Set by Nicci Battilana  was inked with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko and stamped onto the front and back of the painted paper to create three tombstones. They were all fussy-cut, edged with a black pen, detailed, and rub-ons were added to the front of two of them, then they were set aside.

A piece of vellum was backed with double sided tape. Jet Black Staz-On was used to ink the ghosts from the Eclectica ENB02 Cling Rubber Stamp Set by Nicci Battilana. The ghosts were fussy-cut and set aside.

The moon from the Eclectica Scrapcosy 24 Cling Rubber Stamp Set by ScrapCosy was inked with Morning Mist VersaFine Clair Inks by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko, stamped onto white cardstock, and cut with a circle cutting die.

Copic-friendly black ink was used to stamp Wednesday, Thing, the dress, arms, hands, and the bat from the Eclectica ENB19 Cling Rubber Stamp Set by Nicci Battilana onto white cardstock. All the elements were fussy-cut, colored with Copic markers, and edged with a black pen. A stabby-tool was used to poke holes where indicated on the paper doll.

One of the masks from the Acetate Circles Mask Set was used to add a halo of white pearlescent chalk to the night sky. The moon was adhered over the halo, then the bats were adhered.

The vellum ghosts, the tombstones, and Thing were adhered to the tag. Wednesday was assembled using tiny star brads, then adhered. Chalk pencils were used to ground the elements on the lawn and to add detail as well. The sticker was added to complete the tag.
