Layered Love: A Mixed Media Card with PaperArtsy Mattints

Hello, crafty friends! Ericka from Strangely Creative here, and today I’m diving into some mixed media fun with PaperArtsy Mattints and my Gel Press plate. These Mattints in The Pink and Jam create the most gorgeous, subtle hues—perfect for building soft yet dynamic backgrounds.

After pulling my print, I added a bold touch using the AALL & Create Hearts stamp with VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink, heat embossing it for extra dimension and shine. To enhance the background even further, I stamped with an older AALL & Create set, similar to the Visual Dream set, in VersaFine Clair Charming Pink—adding layers of dreamy texture. I used the PaperArtsy Fresco Paints in Bubble Gum to add color to my hearts.

To bring everything together, I hand-drew a simple frame to give the design a finished, artistic touch. I love how this card turned out—soft yet full of depth, perfect for sending a little extra love!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Wishing you a creative and inspiring weekend.

Happy crafting!

Floral Postcard

Hello friends!  It's Colleen Dietrich here, bringing you some inspiration from Topflight Stamps!  This week we are featuring creations that focus on the colors red and pink.

I made a card using two stamp sets from Crafty Individuals.  If you've never seen the selection of Crafty Individuals stamps in the Topflight store, go take a peek.  So many to choose from!

The sets I used are Crafty Individuals - Floral Postcard and Crafty Individuals -  Vintage Tickets & EphemeraI stamped the postcard and colored the bee and the floral bouquet.  Then I inked the edges of the postcard to 'age' it.  Before adding it to the card front, I stamped the bright pink card base with a "post card" image from the Vintage Tickets & Ephemera.  This created a background with subtle interest.

Once the floral postcard was mounted to the card front, I lightly inked up a little postage stamp that says "HALF PENNY" along the bottom edge, from the Vintage Tickets & Ephemera set.  I tucked it underneath the floral postcard, along with a scattering of red pearls.  This makes a cute valentine, doesn't it?  Something different, something unexpected.

Thanks for joining me today!

Pink & Red = Valentine Cards

Hello, Lisa Hoel here. This week at Topflight Stamps our theme is all about using the colors Red & Pink so I'm back with another Valentine card to share! (Check out the large selection of Love themed stamps and stencils in the store.) I had some more stencil fun on this card. (Stencils are on SALE through the end of the month!)

I laid the Studio Light Stencil Grungy Hearts onto a sheet of red card stock and then sprayed it all over with Pinkella Mysticals Mist. It has a more subtle appearance that springs into view when the light hits the shine. It make a great background for various tags cut out of different pieces of cardstock (Regency Bunting #44 and Tag Mini Album Die Sets).

The little cat is the PaperArtsy Zinis Stamp ZN35. I watercolored and fussy cut it out.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out the Topflight Stamps store for a wide selection of different and hard to find stamps, stencils and other paper crafting supplies from all around the world! Also keep an eye here on the Topflight Stamps blog. There is new inspiration posted daily!

Jump for Joy - Pink and Red Challenge Card 2

Public Service Announcement!
There's a great stencil sale going on right now at Topflight Stamps!

Now for the featured project!

You've got Kathi here again! This week the Topflight Stamps team has a color challenge! We're using Pink and Red. I was so inspired by the color scheme that I've made two cards for the challenge.

Pounce an anti-static panel onto a 6" x 8" panel of mixed media cardstock. Using a stamping platform, position the jumping girl from the Tomorrow Doesn't Exist Clear Polymer Stamp Set by Visible Image on the top right of the panel. Ink the stamp with VersaMark or other embossing ink. Stamp the image. Re-ink the stamp with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko and stamp again. Repeat if necessary to attain a good impression. Add clear detail embossing powder, dump the excess back into its container, and heat set.

Sponge or brush light pink ink over the entire image panel to create a pink background. Use a Fine Spray Mister by Spectrum Noir to mist the inked panel with water to add some splotches. Heat set the panel.

Use magnets or low-tack tape to secure the Dynamic 8x8 Stencil by Lavinia Stamps onto the image panel. Sponge or brush light pink over the stencil to create a subtle tone-on-tone background. Remove the stencil.

Use magnets or low-tack tape to secure the Smile Stencil by Darkroom Door over the image panel as desired. Sponge or brush Emperor Red Elements Ink by Lavinia Stamps over the stencil onto the image panel.

Remove the stencil and trim the image panel to 5.625" square. You'll note that I cut off quite a bit of the stenciled background, but I wanted to keep the "Jump for Joy" sentiment. Use Emperor Red Elements Ink to edge the panel. Use a black pigment ink pen to edge the panel.

Trim a piece of black cardstock to 5.75" square use it to mat the image panel. Adhere the matted image panel to the front of a red 6x6 card. Use the Quickie Glue Pinpoint Roller Pen by Sakura of America to adhere tiny shiny black star and burst sequins as shown to finish the card.

Home Is Where The Heart Is

Public Service Annoucement:
There's a great stencil sale going on right now at Topflight Stamps!

Now back to our regular blog post!

You've got Kathi here today. This week the Topflight Stamps team has a color challenge. We're to use Pink and Red in our projects. I was so inspired by the color scheme that I've made two cards for the challenge.

Cut a piece of Bristol paper to 6" square. Place the large open heart part of the Cascading Hearts Stencil by Darkroom Door over the the paper and secure it with magnets or low-tack tape. Brush Copic-friendly light pink ink over the heart shaped aperture. Place a piece of low-tack tape horizontally about 1.5" from the bottom point of the heart. Brush the same light pink ink over the tape to deepen the color.

Remove the stencil and horizontal tape. Place the image panel onto a stamping platform. Position the Meadow Cottage Clear Polymer Stamp by Lavinia Stamps facedown atop the horizontal line. Ink the stamp with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko and stamp it twice — once onto the image panel and once onto repositionable sticker paper.

Use Copic markers to color the Meadow Cottage. Fussy-cut the sticker paper version and place it over its counterpart on the image panel.

Place the large open heart part of the Cascading Hearts Stencil back over the image panel, taking care to line it up exactly. Place the Ornate Stencil by Lavinia Stamps over the heart stencil and the masked house. Brush the same light pink ink over the stencil onto the center of the heart to add a tone-on-tone pattern.

Remove both stencils. Place the heart mask over the stenciled heart so that it completely covers the heart and the masked Meadow Cottage

Brush slightly darker pink ink over the heart mask to color the background around the central heart. Use a water-filled Fine Spray Mister by Spectrum Noir to mist the image panel. The ink I used is reactive with water, which resulted in some splotches and splatter.

Remove the heart mask and heat set the image panel. Place the image panel back onto the stamping platform. Use Emperor Red Elements Ink by Lavinia Stamps to stamp mini hearts above the chimney. Position the sentiment from the Words from the Heart Clear Polymer Stamp Set by Lavinia Stamps facedown towards the top of the image panel. Press the platform's lid onto the stamp, lift it, then place low-tack tape to cover both hearts. Ink the sentiment with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko, remove the tape, and stamp. Clean and dry the sentiment stamp. Use low-tack tape to cover the words of the sentiment. Ink the two hearts with Emperor Red Elements Ink, remove the tape, and stamp.

Trim .125" off of the image panel and edge the panel with Emperor Red Elements Ink. Cut a piece of black cardstock cut to 5.75" square and use it to mat the image panel.

Create a 6" square card from white textured cardstock. Use Emperor Red Elements to ink a .5" perimeter around the cardstock. Adhere the card front to finish the card.

Crafting with Leftovers

Hello, friends!

It’s Ericka here from Strangely Creative, and I’m so excited to share a project that puts those beloved scraps to good use! If you’re like me, letting go of leftover gel press prints is practically impossible—there’s always potential waiting in those colorful bits and pieces. Today, I’m showing you how I turned my stash of gel press leftovers into a cheerful and creative tag.

For this project, I started with the AALL & Create Tag It Yourself die—a game-changer for giving scraps a second life. This die allowed me to piece together a unique tag using prints that had been patiently waiting in my “someday” pile.

Embossing Magic

Once my tag was cut, I reached for an older favorite: the AALL & Create Full of Wishes stamp set. I heat-embossed the design, letting its intricate details shine against the vibrant background. There’s something so satisfying about watching embossing powder melt into place, don’t you think?

Adding Fun Shapes

To give my tag extra dimension, I used the smaller dies from the same Tag It Yourself set. I layered a few fun shapes cut from my leftover prints onto the tag, bringing texture and personality into the mix.

Finishing Touches

For the sentiment, I turned to the versatile AALL & Create Bring on the Sentiments set—a perfect finishing detail! To frame everything and pull the design together, I hand-drew a whimsical border, because no tag feels complete without a touch of freehand charm.

Get Creative This Weekend!

I hope this project inspires you to dive into your stash of scraps and create something colorful and fun. Remember, every little leftover has the potential to become something beautiful—it’s all about finding the right way to showcase it!

Thank you so much for stopping by Strangely Creative! I’d love to hear how you use your scraps or see your own crafty creations. Feel free to share in the comments below or tag me on social media.

Happy crafting!
