Carabelle Studio Texture Plates with No-Line Watercolor

Hi everyone and welcome to the Topflight Stamps blog!  It's Jenny here, and today I am doing something a little different - I'm using a texture plate from Carabelle Studio with my Gel Press to create a lacy mixed media style background.  I paired it with IndigoBlu florals for a little bit of no line watercoloring.  I'm using the Lovely Lace Texture Plate today. 

To create my card, I first coated my Gel Press with Paperartsy acrylic paint in Wisteria and Amethyst (keeping one on the top and one on the bottom and blending them together) using a brayer.  I then inked up the texture plate with dark purple dye ink (I used Grape Crush by Catherine Pooler Designs) and pushed the texture plate into the gel press.  I then laid over some copy paper and lifted the print.

I trimmed down the print and backed it onto white cardstock and added it to a white note card with a thin strip of gold mirror cardstock. I also flicked some gold shimmer spray onto the background.

I stamped the three florals from the gorgeous IndioBlu Nature III set in Seedless Preserves Distress Ink onto hot press watercolor cardstock and then coloured them with my Umiko watercolors. 

I trimmed them out and went back round the edges with Seedless Preserves with an ink blending tool. I popped them up on foam tape onto my card.

The sentiment is also from same Nature III set which I stamped on vellum and heat embossed in white and then adhered it to the card.  To finish I added some Fairy Wings Dream Drops and purple sequins.

Indigoblu No Line Watercolor

Hi Everyone, welcome to the Topflight Stamps blog! It's Jenny here, and today I'm here with a card project that uses the absolutely gorgeous Nature III stamp set by IndigoBlu.  

I lusted after this stamp set for so long before I finally grabbed it and I decided to tackle the largest stamp in the set with no line watercoloring.  I say 'tackle' as this did take a lonnnng time to color in.  It's incredibly intricate and this technique requires patience at the best of times!

To create my card I used hotpress watercolor cardstock, which takes water well but is very smooth and great for stamping on.  I used Inkon3 fadeout ink to stamp my image, which creates a very pale outline allowing you to watercolor the image without a solid line (hence the 'no-line').

I used pan watercolors and a number 2 brush to color my image, primarily blending a dark yellow and a dark pink to create the blend on the main florals, and then a light and dark pink on the smaller flowers.    For contrast I added some details with color pencils. When finished, I added some glitz by coloring over the spots around the edge with a glitter gel pen.

I stamped the sentiment from the set in black ink and as a finishing touch, stamped the butterfly in dark ink once on the panel and then again on a scrap of watercolor cardstock, painted it and fussy cut it out, popping it up on foam tape on the card panel.

To finish, I die cut out the panel with a stitched rectangle die, matted it on burnt orange cardstock and mounted on a white card base.

Dream Your Life in Color - Carabelle Studio

Welcome to the Topflight Stamps blog, it's Jenny here.  Today I'm bringing you a floral no-line watercolor technique  card created with Carabelle Studio's The Exotiks stamp.   I love the no-line technique (stamping in a light colour and then going over the line with your media so that the line can no longer be seen) as it makes it look like I drew the image myself (and I can't draw for toffee!!)

To create my card, I multi-stamped the main image three times on a panel of cold press watercolor paper using my MISTI and Antique Linen Distress Ink which is great for no line coloring. 

I love this set and it's so fun to colour so I had to break it out again!  It comes with some nice sentiments too!

I watercolored the image using Daniel Smith watercolors.  The leaves were coloured using Sap Green (and Burnt Sienna for the veins), the flowers in Quinacridone Violet and the background in Payne's Blue Grey.  I also added some black ink spatters. 

I trimmed down the image to fit on an A2 size card and adhered it to a card base using double sided tape.  For the sentiment, I stamped on a scrap of grey cardstock in Versafine Onyx black, die cut it out with a stitched rectangle and popped it up on foam tape.

As a finishing touch, I added clear Nuvo Drops scattered around the florals and golden glitter drops to the centres of the florals for some subtle shimmer.
