Sending Heartfelt Wishes

It's Tuesday which means that you've got Kathi here to share a project with you! It's an "Anything Goes" week so I decided to create  a summery birthday card with the Good Things Take Time Clear Stamp Set TE60 and the Flower Power Clear Stamp Set TE37 — both by Tracy Evans Boutique, the Leaf Green and Ultramarine Brusho Crystal Colors by Colourcraft, and the Crea-Nest-Lies XXL Double Stitched Rectangle Die Set by CREAlies.

Here it is!

I wanted the flower stems to be green so I decided to use the 'no lines' coloring technique. The lilies from the Good Things Take Time Clear Stamp Set TE60 by Tracy Evans Boutique were stamped with Copic-friendly yellow ink onto a panel of Bristol Paper. Heat set the ink. 

My neighbors have beautiful red/orange lilies, so I used red and orange Copic markers to color the lilies and green Copic markers to color the stems. My colors got a bit over-saturated, but I was mostly pleased with the result.

A small amount of Leaf Green and Ultramarine Brusho Crystal Colors by Colourcraft were sprinkled into wells of a color palette. Water was added to the Crystal Colors to dilute them. A wet paint brush was used to dampen the paper around the stems, then the Leaf Green Crystal Color was brushed onto the bottom section of the panel on a slant. 

A wet paint brush was used to dampen the paper around the flowers and stems on the top part of the image panel. Ultramarine Brusho Crystal Color was painted onto the image panel. 

The colors were looking a bit streaky, so a wad of cotton was wet with 91% Isopropyl Alcohol, then pounced onto the background avoiding the Copic colored images. A cotton swab was dipped into the alcohol and pounced onto the areas closest to the images. The alcohol mottled the background and brought out some of the other colors in the crystals. Fun! 

Water-color brush pens were used to add detail to the lawn and to the flowers. I decided to pounce the alcohol-saturated cotton onto the image panel again which softened some of watercolors.

The image panel was throroughly heat set, then cut with the third largest die from the Crea-Nest-Lies XXL Double Stitched Rectangle Die Set by CREAlies. 

The "Sending Heartfelt Wishes..." sentiment stamp from the Flower Power Clear Stamp Set TE37 by Tracy Evans Boutique was positioned facedown on the top left of the image panel die-cut. Melon Soda VersaFine Clair Ink by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko was used to ink the sentiment, which was then stamped and heat-set.

Black glitter pen was used to outline the stamens of the flowers and add a slight dimensional touch.

The image panel die-cut was matted with black metallic cardstock that was trimmed to be 1/8" larger than the die-cut.

The matted image panel was adhered to a white textured A6 card.

Mr. Fortuneteller

 Greetings! It's Tuesday so you've got Kathi here to share a project with you. This week's product focus is Creative Expressions and I've made a card with their Mr. Foreteller Cling Rubber Stamp by Sam Poole.

Here it is!

Using a stamping platform and Tuxedo Black Memento Ink by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko, stamp the Mr. Foreteller Cling Rubber Stamp by Sam Poole for Creative Expressions onto Copic-friendly cardstock. Keep the stamp on the lid of the stamping platform.

Fussy-cut Mr. Foreteller and color him with Copic markers. Edge the fussy-cut image with a black marker and set it aside.

Cut a panel of mixed media cardstock to 4.5" x 6" to create the background panel. Brush or sponge tan dye inks randomly onto the panel. Sponge or brush Dark Denim and Mermaid Elements Inks by Lavinia Stamps randomly onto the panel. Mist the panel Ink Potion No. 9 to blend and mottle the colors. Misted water will also work. Heat set the panel.

Ink the Mr. Foreteller Cling Rubber Stamp with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko and stamp onto a panel of mixed media cardstock. Re-ink and stamp again if necessary to attain a clean impression. Heat set the panel.

Place the smallest circle mask from the Acetate Circle Masks Set by by Lavinia Stamps over the center of the compass. 

Splatter the panel with gold metallic acrylic paint. Remove and clean the Acetate Circle Masks. Heat set the panel.

Pour a bit of water into a small receptacle (I used a tiny cup that is usually used for condiments. My sushi place sends them with packets of soy sauce). Shake Alizarin Crimson and Brilliant Red Brusho Crystal Colors into the water, stir, and use a clean toothbrush or a paint brush to add red splatter to the panel to bring out the scarf color. Heat set the  panel.

Use a black chalk pencil to outline Mr. Foreteller on the background panel then use a cotton bud to soften the chalk lines. Adhere the fussy-cut Copic colored Mr. Foreteller over his counterpart.

Trim the background panel then use a scissor blade to distress the edges of the panel. Adhere the panel to blue cardstock cut slightly larger than the image/background panel, then adhere to a black card.

Happy PURR-day Gift Card and Tag

Greetings! It's Tuesday so you've got Kathi here to share a project with you. This week the team is focusing on gift card holders, tags, or containers. Since December is only a few weeks away, I need several of these because there are family birthdays, friends' birthdays, and the winter holidays!

Here's my gift card that has a pull-out tag, made with AALL and Create's Ribboned Whisker Wonders Clear Stamp Set 1214, the Purrfect Gift Clear Stamp Set 121 (retired), the Totally Dotty Stencil 87, the Top of the Pops Die Set 45 and the Tag It Yourself Die Set 27. Brushos, PaperArtsy Infusions, and VersaFine Clair Inks were

 used as well.

This card was a bit complicated, albeit fun, to make. Rather than completely bore you, I'll give you the condensed version, then you can pop over to my blog for the verbose and boring instructions.

Tuxedo Black Memento Ink by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko was used to stamp the cats and presents from the Ribboned Whisker Wonders Clear Stamp Set 1214 by AALL and Create. The image was masked and the solo cat (in orange) was stamped atop one of the gifts, positioned so it appears that he is lazily playing with the toy. The masks were lifted, the images were colored with Copic markers, then the panel was cut with the flag die from the Top of the Pops Die Set 45 by AALL and Create.

Sleight Blue and Rusty Car Infusions by PaperArtsy were sprinkled onto wet Bristol paper, misted again to activate the dyes. The background needed more blue and purple tones, so Ultramarine and Violet Brushos by Colourcraft added in the same way. The paper was thoroughly heat set, cut with the second largest flag die from the Top of the Pops Die Set 45, flattened, and used to mat the colored image panel die-cut.

Arctic, Very Peri, Blue Belle, and Medieval Blue VersaFine Clair Inks by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko were brushed onto another piece of Bristol paper working from the heaviest application of the lighter blues to the lightest application of the dark blues to create the background panel. Fantasia and Lilac Bloom VersaFine Clair Inks were brushed over the Totally Dotty Stencil 87 by AALL and Create  to add a pattern to the background panel. The panel was trimmed to 4.75" x 6.75" and edged with Fantasia VersaFine Clair Ink. The panel was heat set and set aside so I could make the gift tag.

The same inks were brushed onto another piece of Bristol paper, which was then cut with the smallest tag die from the Tag It Yourself Die Set 27 by AALL and Create and a pocket die from another die set in my stash. The slot die from the Top of the Pops Die Set 45  was used to cut a slot on the top of the tag.

Fantasia VersaFine Clair Ink was used to stamp the sentiment onto a strip of leftover inked paper and die-cut.

The layers were all adhered and the sentiment strip was adhered to finish the card.

Darkroom Door Bookmarks

Hi Everyone,

Cornelia here today. This week it's anything goes on the Topflight blog.  I decided on making some bookmarks with the pretty Darkroom Door Chrysanthemums.

I used water color paper for my background. Sprinkled Brushos (yellow and blue) onto the paper and generously added water to have the colors blend. You can used regular watercolors for this as well. 

I stamped the blooms and added a bit of focal color as well as some highlights with a Posca pen. Stamped the sentiment. Lastly I added some ribbons.

I dabbed away some of the color from the above bloom, as it was a bit too dark for my taste. I alos added a bit of color to the leaves.

On the bookmark below I added a texture stamp on the side and colored it in a bit.

Craft Emotions - Don't Let Things Bug You

   Hi Everyone,

Cornelia here today. This week it's anything goes on the Topflight blog.  I used the old, but still cute set Bugs 2 from Craft Emotions for my card. 

I first made my background using Brushos. I used a bit of water and dissolved the Brushos first to just use them as watercolor.  Let it dry. I stamped the dandelion and bugs with Versamark and colored them with water brush markers.  Added some white accents. I dabbed white ink around the dandelion with my finger. Added some Stickles to the dandelion and dragonfly wings. Stamped and heat embossed the sentiment and added it.

Valentine's Day Cards

 It's Tuesday which means you've got Kathi to share a project with you. This week's theme over at the Topflight Stamps blog is "Anything Goes".  I'm stuck on Valentine's Day and have created two cards for the holiday using my new Arty Hearts Collage Red Rubber Cling Stamp and Arty Hearts Collage Small Stencil by Darkroom Door.

These cards are a bit of a departure for me as there's no coloring, no masking, and no fussy-cutting.

The Arty Hearts Collage Red Rubber Cling Stamp was stamped with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink by Imagine Crafts for both cards since it yields a rich dark black and handles fine detailed stamps beautifully.

A panel of 140 lb. Mixed Media cardstock was brushed with Confetti and Emperor Red Elements Inks by Lavinia Stamps. A baby wipe was used to blend the colors on the panel, misted with water, and  heat set.

Using a stamping platform, the Arty Hearts Collage Red Rubber Cling Stamp was stamped onto the inked background with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink by Imagine Crafts.

Water and a paint brush were used to remove ink from each of the hearts. The coordinating Arty Hearts Collage Small Stencil by Darkroom Door was placed over the hearts and the hearts were watercolored with diluted Raspberry Infusions by PaperArtsy, diluted Crimson and Brilliant Red Brusho Crystal Colors by Colourcraft. Pink Jellybean, Dusky Rose, and Red Brick Prism Inks by Hunkydory Crafts and Emperor Red and Confetti Elements Inks by Lavinia Stamps were all smooshed onto a craft mat, misted with water, and painted onto the hearts. 

When all the hearts were painted, the panel was heat set, trimmed, edged with black Distress ink, matted with black cardstock, and adhered to a red A2 card. 

Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink by Imagine Crafts was used to stamp the sentiment from the ever useful Classic Sentiments Clear Stamp Set by Heffy Doodle onto a left over piece of inked cardstock. This was heat set, cut with a die, edged with black ink, and adhered at the top of the card.

The kraft card was really quick to create. Using a stamping platform, the Arty Hearts Collage Red Rubber Cling Stamp was stamped onto a panel of kraft cardstock with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink by Imagine Crafts, then heat set.

The coordinating Arty Hearts Collage Small Stencil by Darkroom Door was placed over the hearts on the kraft panel. Dusky Rose, Red Brick, Red Chili, Smoked Paprika, and Cherry Walnut Prism Inks by Hunkydory Crafts and Emperor Red and Paprika Elements Inks by Lavinia Stamps were all smooshed onto a craft mat, misted with water, and painted onto the hearts. Sadly, a some ink seeped under the stencil, so I brushed the Emperor Red and Paprika Elements Inks across the panel to camouflage my mistake. The panel was trimmed and edged with Emperor Red Elements Ink.

Using a stamping platform,  Emperor Red Elements Ink was used to stamp the Herringbone Texture Red Rubber Cling Stamp by Darkroom Door repeatedly over a 4" x 5.25" piece of kraft cardstock. When done, the panel was edged with the same red ink and adhered to a kraft A2 card.
