Butterfly Time

Greetings! It's Tuesday, so you've got Kathi here today to share a project with you. This week our team focus is on Butterflies. Topflight Stamps has a wide selection of butterfly and moth-themed products available. Here's a link to take a closer look! 

I've made a card with the Steampunk Butterfly from the TS074 Cling Mounted Stamp Set by Tracy Scott for PaperArtsy, the PS252 Stencil by by Tracy Scott for PaperArtsy, and the PS080 Stencil by Kay Carley for PaperArtsy. 

Here it is!

Use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko to stamp the Steampunk Butterfly from the TS074 Cling Mounted Stamp Set by Tracy Scott for PaperArtsy twice —  once onto a white panel and once onto repositionable sticker paper. 

Use Copic markers to color the butterfly. Fussy-cut the sticker paper version and place it over its counterpart on the image panel as a mask.

Brush or sponge yellow Copic-friendly dye ink over the masked image. 

Place the PS252 Stencil by by Tracy Scott for PaperArtsy onto the image panel so that the perimeter of the clock circle is enclosing the butterfly and secure the stencil with magnets and/or low-tack tape.

 Sponge or brush Copic-friendly orange dye ink over the stencil onto the masked image panel.

Remove the masks and use Y Copic markers to color the openings in the steampunk butterfly. Trim the image panel to 5⅞" square and edge with the orange dye ink.

Use the same orange ink and the PS080 Stencil by Kay Carley for PaperArtsy to add stenciled butterflies and dragonflies onto the corners of the panel. Use Copic markers to add details to the centers of the insects. 

Adhere the image panel to a blue 6" square card.

I hope you are all keeping warm this January and having a great new year. Ericka from Strangely Creative here and I'm trying to work more in my journal this year. I created a page using a background I had previously made using my gel press, PaperArtsy Fresco paints and the Carabelle Studios Rosette texture plate.

 

I then used the PaperArtsy Kay Carley PS061 stencil with black archival ink and a blending brush to lay down a black layer of ink. I then moved my stencil over and used texture paste with the WOW! Embossing Tracy Scott Golden Vintage Lace to give the image a shadow look. 

Once the texture paste was dry, I used my heat tool to melt the powder. I took my white gel pen and added some lines along the branches and finished my card with a sentiment from the PaperArtsy Alison Bomber 19.

PaperArtsy Kay Carley Stamped Flower Field Cards

 

Hi friends!  It's Autumn Clark from SewPaperPaint with you today to share a couple of inky cards featuring the new Kay Carley stamps by PaperArtsy, set EKC49.  These were such fun to make using a variety of watercolor stamping techniques.  I'm sharing a short video tutorial on YouTube HERE.

I'm just not ready to let go of summer and love that the sentiment in this set can be used in different ways.  I added some doodles around the cut up words to frame them.

I used Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass and Squeezed Lemonade for the sky, Mowed Lawn for the leaves and a mix of Blueprint Sketch and Chipped Sapphire for the agapanthuses, with some Posca pen dots for contrast.  I added some shimmer with Stickles and sequins.  I hope they give you the summer feels and you'll check out Kay's gorgeous new flower stamp sets.  Hugs, Autumn

Kay Carley Spring Flowers with PaperArtsy Frescos

 

 

Hi friends!  It's Autumn Clark from SewPaperPaint here with you today to share a springtime card featuring stamps by Kay Carley for PaperArtsy.  Kay recently shared a Facebook live video tutorial (find it HERE) on how she uses her stamps with their coordinating stencils, so I pulled out my stamps and had a play.   Now, I've used two of Kay's first stamp sets, but I've linked newer, similar stamps below so you can try your hand. 

Kay used Pepermint Frescos to paint her background panel. I used my gel press, so it picked up some of the Prawn Frescos that I had used on an earlier project.  Because I didn't have the stencils, I used stamps with Distress Oxides for my background.  I used Worn Lipstick and Bundled Sage.  I love how Oxides work over Frescos!  For the greenery at the bottom I used Rustic Wilderness Oxide and Wintergreen Frescos to fill in.  I added the tall flowers, curving the stems where desired, to my stamp platform and stamped in Versafine.  I drew longer stems with a black pen where needed.  Then I painted the petals with a combination of Wisteria, Grape and Forget Me Not Frescos.  After the detail was painted in, I restamped with Versafine, then added the white details with a paint pen.  You can see just how easy this process is, no matter which stamps of Kay's you choose.  She makes it even easier by using coordinating stencils, but you can certainly freehand it like I've done.  I finished with a sticker sentiment over a bundled string.  I hope you're inspired to play with stamps and paints and will check out Kay's video tutorial and her amazing range of stamps at Topflight Stamps.  Hugs, Autumn
