Purr-fect Birthday Card with Visible Image Stamps

Hello, Lisa Hoel here. I'm back with another Topflight Stamps card for you! This week's theme is "Anything Goes". I used the Visible Image stamp set Purr-fect Birthday to make my son's birthday card.

I stamped everything on a gel print background with permanent inks. Having a stash of gel prints is handy!

Lots of Cats with Crafty Individuals

    Hi Everyone,

This week's theme is anything goes on the Topflight blog. 

Cornelia here today. I discovered that Crafty Individuals has a challenge on Facebook and of course I have to play along. The theme is bright colors - no problem!

I used two cat sets from them (see below), stamped them on scrap paper, colored them with alcohol ink markers and cut them out. Arranged them on a piece of maroon card stock and added a sticker sentiment.

New Visible Image Cat's Whiskers

 

Hello crafty friends! Ericka from Strangely Creative here and today I am playing with the new Visible Image Cat's Whiskers stencil. Don't tell anyone but I'm not really a cat person, definitely more of a dog person as we have two. But when I saw this stencil and the That Lovin' Feline stamp set, I just had to get them.

I started by making a gel press print using the Art By Marlene Acrylic Paint Set in Intense. I love these bright colors and thought it would be purrfect for my cat. I used some bubble wrap before I pulled my print to add a little more texture.

I then used some black glossy embossing paste and the Visible Image Cat's Whiskers. Once it was dry I cut down the image to leave a fun border.

I stamped and clear heat embossed the sentiment from the Visible Image That Lovin' Feline stamp set. I love how easy and fun this card was to make and can't wait to give it to my cat loving friend!

Birman Cat and Katzelkraft Rat with Guest Designer Cornelia

Hi Everybody, 

Cornelia back again. This is my second post as guest designer for Topflight Stamps. This week we are focusing on the company For the Love of Stamps.

They have some super cute dog and cat stamps. Since I had dogs on my last post I thought I better be fair and put a cat in the scene. This one is a bit sneaky, hiding behind that wall.....

The Katzelkraft rat doesn't think he is cute and is just hoping for the best. After all there is no escape route for her....

My stamp supplies:

I stamped the cat and colored it with Copics. Masked it. The wall is an embossing folder. The rat I cut with my Scan N Cut and colored with Copics as well and mounted it with foam tape after I sponged the floor.

Cats Defined?

Hi Topflight fans! Today I'm sharing a layered mixed media card that tries to play with the idea that cats are a bit of a mystery (at least they are to me, a dog person - LOL).

I first created a background with a Tim Holtz Plaid Layering Stencil and Distress Inks blended through the stencil with fabulous Clarity Stencil Brushes (oh I love how softly they blend in color without any harsh blending tool marks). Next I stamped out the awesome Studio Light Cats & Girls Cat Sayings background stamp. I think the various definitions of cats in this stamp are a hoot!

I took a cue from one of those definitions ("cat around like to spend one's time aimlessly or idly") and picked an adorable For the Love of Stamps "Cute Kitties" stamp of a kitty sleeping on top of a pile of clean laundry as the focal point for the card. I Copic colored and fussy cut, and popped up this image on foam adhesive.

To add a little dimension to, softness behind and frame around this kitty image, I die cut a rectangular stitched frame and backed it with a piece of vellum before popping it up with foam adhesive strips. The the words in the background were still visible but softened through the vellum so that the kitty image stood out and popped from the card front. 

Since now the particular cat definition that was applicable to this kitty image was mostly obscured by the frame and vellum, I re-stamped just this definition with VersMark Ink on black card stock and heat embossed it with Ranger Super Fine Embossing Powder. To center this definition under the kitty image, I cut it apart and popped up the different segments on foam adhesive too. For a sparkly finishing touch I sprinkled on a healthy number of gold and orange star confetti and sequins.

For Cat Lovers

Hello Topflight fans! I'm a dog person, but today I'm veering into the world of cat lovers. I designed this card for folks who love the independent spirit of cats.

The whimsical look of the IndigoBlu Kevin's Gang cat stamps are perfect for the sentiment in the set that says "DOGS come when they're called CATS take a message and get back to you". Because I wanted to simply highlight the silly kitty designs, I refrained from coloring them up (except for a tiny bit of Copic coloring for inside their ears - I couldn't help myself!). I went over the eyes, noses and fur patterns with a black Sakura Glaze Pen and just fussy cut them out. 

To create little windows from which the kitties could pop out, I used some Diemond Dies stitched heart dies that had the stitching on both the inside and outside of the hearts. I wanted the stitching detail for the heart windows and this worked perfectly. To add a bit of color, I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberry to create an ombre effect in each heart window.

I used thin double sided foam adhesive to position and pop up all the kitties and the card front with the heart windows. Then I heat embossed the sentiment on black card stock with white embossing powder and split it up so that the card front had the first doggy part and the inside of the card had the second kitty part. For the inside of the card, I added a fourth kitty in repose, which seemed to fit the idea of cats getting back to their people in their own time. :)
