Paperartsy | Masculine & Feminine Mandalas

Hi everyone, it's Jenny here - I seem to be having a bit of a mandala kick at the moment – I absolutely can’t get enough of them. Today I’m featuring a beautiful mandala set by Tracy Scott.

I wanted to use the set to create both a feminine and masculine version. For the first card, I stamped the three largest mandalas in embossing ink onto an A2 panel of pink cardstock, and then embossed in metallic gold embossing powder.

I then used Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide and a blender brush, to blend pink up from the base towards the centre of the panel. As the Oxide is opaque, it covers the colored cardstock, and the embossing resists the ink (with a little help from a buffing cloth).

I added a few spatters of clear glitter spray and then stamped the Thinking of You sentiment from Visible Image Go To Words set in black ink. To finish I added a few pink and iridescent clear sequins.

For the masculine card, I took a panel of dark grey cardstock, and stamped the mandalas again in embossing ink. 

This time I heat embossed them in Emerald Creek Patina Oxide embossing powder which is a green and gold coppery type powder.

I then re-stamped the mandalas over the top in embossing ink only, leaving a pale grey image behind. The embossing powder resists the ink and it creates a watermark type look.

For my sentiment, I used the Visible Image set again, heat embossed in white on black cardstock then popped up on foam tape.

I really like how they turned out so differently and yet pair together! Looking at a set with a masculine and feminine card in mind will help you stretch your stamps and come up with some fab ideas you might never have thought of otherwise!  You can see more details on the supplies I used over on my blog.

Mermaids and a Big Sale!

Good morning, Lisa Hoel here with a card to share with you today. I made another birthday card with my Gel Press and the Texture Plates! ;-) (My sister-in-law is going to love this!)

I used a Gel Press Plate and Texture Plate to print the card base.You can see more info and photos on my blog post where I made the fairy card with a similar background but here's a peek:

I inked the plate with Distress Oxide Inks and gently pressed the Texture Plate into the ink to remove some of it. Then I pulled a print and got a cool background! You can also use the inked Texture Plate to make a print. It's a 2 for 1 deal! The above photo is from the previous fairy card I created. I used the same technique with blue inks for the mermaid card. You can see more about it on my post here.

Scarecrow...

Happy Friday everyone.. Annette Allen here with you today and I am getting crafty with the new Visible Image: Oz Scarecrow stamp set, Darkroom Door  White Marking Crayon and AAll & Create: Barbary Stars stencil. 

I used watercolor paper and with the Darkroom Door  White Marking Crayon I made a few lines before adding some watercolor. As you can see the Darkroom Door  White Marking Crayon resist the ink. I then used the AAll & Create: Barbary Stars stencil with Ranger oxide ink Frayed Burlap. Again the Darkroom Door  White Marking Crayon resisted the ink. I was going for a faded look for my background.

I colored the images with Copic sketch markers and then die cut with my Brother Scan n Cut. Although there is matching dies to this Visible Image: Oz Scarecrow stamp set. You can find them on the Topflight Stamps store HERE. I used foam adhesives to give the images some dimension. I chose not to add a sentiment because I think it can be used for a few occasions. I wanted to keep my options open when I mail it out to a friend.

Alexandra Renke Washi Card

Hello Topflight Stamp fans. I hope your week is going well. Ericka here today with a little bit of a card experiment. I have this some beautiful washi tape from Alexandra Renke (ok I must admit I might be a washi tape collector lol) but I struggle with ways of using these gorgeous washi. So today, I decided to try something different and create a card with several washi elements.

I placed the butterflies on white paper and then cut them out and used the violet tulips as a base of flowers. FYI I think the tulip washi has been discontinued since I couldn't find it anywhere.

I love the pops of yellow that the butterflies give my flowers and I think I might have to try adding them to some more cards. This was a fun and quick way to create a card

Sherlock

Hi, Topflight Fans! Toni here sharing a belated birthday card. I swear it's the only kind I need lately! LOL.

I'm using the Katzelkraft Sherlock Holmes detective to look for clues as to how he could have missed the birthday. So cute!

The background is a brick stencil sponged with Distress Oxide Candied Apple with Mustard Seed used for the lamp light.  I watercolored the detective with Zig Real Brush pens and am especially pleased with the look of his duster--tatty and worn just as I imagined in my head!  I printed the sentiment with my label printer.

Color Blocked Butterflies

Hi Everyone and welcome to the Topflight Stamps blog - it's Jenny here! The clocks went forward in the USA today - ugh - I hate losing an hour. Such a small amount of time yet it really throws your day off!! I thought I'd create a couple of cards to bright up the rest of the day!

Today I am over on the Topflight Stamps blog and I have two cards for you which feature a similar theme - color blocking. I'm using a technique I saw Yana Smakula use recently. I created two panels using sparkly cardstock in rose, pale pink and a sage green by adhering strips to a piece of A2 size cardstock. I then trimmed one of the panels into 1 inch strips and adhered them to a white card base using foam tape, switching each strip but keeping the green down the centre.

I kept each of the cards simple. For this one I used Carabelle Studios Flight of the Butterflies.

I heat embossed one of the butterflies on vellum with metallic silver embossing powder and then fussy cut it out.

I adhered it to the color block strips with a foam strip. I heat embossed the sentiment from For The Love of Stamps Occasion Sentiments in white embossing powder directly onto the color blocks. As a finishing touch I added some clear sequins.

For my second card, before I adhered the panel to a notecard, I used the gorgeous Butterflies Stencil by Alexandra Renke.

I smoothed silver glitter paste all over the panel.

When dry, I adhered it to a white notecard. My sentiment is the Layered Hello by Paper Rose Studio. I die cut it from vellum and some of the card stock left over from creating the color blocking.

I then adhered it the the centre of the card. I added a layer of Diamond Stickles for extra sparkle.

I thought it needed a little something else so I heat embossed the teeny tiny 'Love' sentiment (from an older Alexandra Renke Love Hearts stamp set) onto black cardstock in WOW! Bright White Opaque embossing powder, trimmed it out and popped it up on foam tape. I finished the card with some of the same sparkling clear sequins.

Floral Tag...

Happy day everyone.. Annette Allen here with you today to share this fun tag I creating using 13@arts Stamps: Together stamp set, PaperArtsy: Lacey Scalloped Border & Flow stencil, PaperArtsy: Chalk Acrylics: Wisteria, Mermaid, Caribbean Sea, Gold and Sherbet.

I first created the background with this pretty paint from PaperArtsy. I did not use any brushes just my finger. Get messy and have fun while you create. Once it was dry I used the PaperArtsy: Lacey Scalloped Border & Flow stencil along with the Gold Metallic paint and put a fun pattern on for the background. I also stamped some of the floral images from the stamp set 13@arts Stamps: Together. Then I added more paint. yay for paint.

Finishing up with painting a separate piece of card-stock and then stamping this pretty flower image. I let it dry and cut it out. I added some foam adhesives to give it a little dimension.
