Don't pop it! ~ The Card Hut

Good morning!

The design team is focusing on stamps from Hobby Art this week, but I recently had a brilliant idea to move and rearrange the stamps that I completely misplaced my stamps. An absolute "daft" move. And then I saw this The Card Hut stamp with Daft and Dotty and decided to use this one instead!

I used an already made gel print made with a Gel Press and acrylic paint and decided to use it as a fun background for this puppy!

I stamped and colored the balloons and used dimensional foam tape to adhere them to the print. 

Since the print was a bit busy, I used white texture paste with a stencil
 with circles to break up the color a bit.

I also placed a white frame on the print to position my little pup on.

 This was such an easy card to make with a fun leftover print that lived in my stash. Any pretty paper would work as well.

Quilted Gel Prints for Eileen Hull Notebooks

Happy Monday stampers!  It's Autumn Clark from SewPaperPaint with you today to share a couple of fun mixed media notebooks made with a fabulous PaperArtsy Tracy Scott stamp set, ETS22.  I shared THIS post some time ago on making 6x6 gel prints and did a flip through video of all of my prints.  Now, I don't know about you, but I love finding ways to use up my prints 1. because they are so cool and 2. so I can make more!!!  I gathered together two groups of prints in similar color schemes to begin my quilted designs...

The easiest way to make a paper quilt is to use a punch.  I have done this before with dies that have faux stitching on them and the result is beautiful, but much more time consuming.  This time I wanted to add real stitching and use the prints to die cut with my Eileen Hull Notebook die.  I chose a piece of thick kraft card as my base and use my bone folder to make score marks on it to help align my squares.  The trick is to start in the center and work your way in nice straight rows, making sure all corners meet perfectly.  I use wet glue for this so I will have wiggle room.

Here is my finished piece work!  

I machine stitched around each row, and was left with a lot of texture on the reverse of my panel.  I wanted to make it very sturdy to use with my die, so I applied Mod Podge to the reverse stitches and adhered printed tissue paper, to coordinate with my theme.

This worked to both secure the stitches and strengthen the cardstock.  

Now, I had some more "cherished" prints that I used to cover some tiny composition notebooks.  Two of these fit perfectly in the Notebook die.  The Tracy Scott stamp set has such a great variety of images.  I used the smaller ones for the inserts and the larger ones for my covers, mixed with quotes from the Alison Bomber Dream stamp set,  EAB07.

The backs of the notebooks show off the plain prints.  My husband cut these cute pencils down to size for me to attach to the finished books.

I used a Posca pen to add white hightlights and Beacon Mixed Media Glue to adhere the imagery to the fronts.  

The insides look super cool with that tissue overlay!

Handmade Mark Making Tools for Gel Printing

Hello everyone!  It's Autumn Clark from SewPaperPaint with you today to share a fun tutorial on using your gel plate with "found" items for mark making.  I've been asked to make a video tutorial, and though I'm no videographer, I hope you will find it helpful as you play with your gel plate.  In times like we are facing there is something special about transforming the ordinary into art.  I truly love using stencils with my gel plate and there are many videos that speak to that, but I hope this tutorial will encourage you to use what you have, where you are, the best that you can.  :)  I have used very basic cardstock and old acrylic paints, some that I have had for years.

AALL & Create Blooming Birthday Cards

Hello friends!  It's Autumn Clark from SewPaperPaint with you today to share a couple of bright and cheery birthday cards featuring the AALL & Create Blooming Field stamp set and the Cloister Grille stencil.  

I cut out portions of my favorite gel plate prints, which were made with craft paint and the Cloister Grille stencil.  To get this effect, I laid the stencil onto wet paint on my gel press, then used a scrap paper to lift the paint in the open spaces of the stencil.  I then removed the stencil, allowed the paint on the plate to air dry and covered with a layer of white paint to make the pull.  I stitched around the square panels with my sewing machine and used portions of the Tracy Evans Fritillaria stamp in coordinating Distress Oxides and Versafine ink to add some texture.  

I stamped and fussy cut two of the flowers from Olga's Blooming Field stamp set.  I used Zig Markers to color the images.  I used an octagon die to cut the paper I used to lift paint from my stencils in printing.  It had all sorts of colors and patterns from a day of play and made a unique base for the floral motif.  I edged the octagons in black ink.  

I finished each card with a sticker sentiment, edged with some doodles, and contrasting mat.  I hope these bright and cheery cards will be a blessing to my friends with summer birthdays.  I hope they have inspired you today!

Mermaids and a Big Sale!

Good morning, Lisa Hoel here with a card to share with you today. I made another birthday card with my Gel Press and the Texture Plates! ;-) (My sister-in-law is going to love this!)

I used a Gel Press Plate and Texture Plate to print the card base.You can see more info and photos on my blog post where I made the fairy card with a similar background but here's a peek:

I inked the plate with Distress Oxide Inks and gently pressed the Texture Plate into the ink to remove some of it. Then I pulled a print and got a cool background! You can also use the inked Texture Plate to make a print. It's a 2 for 1 deal! The above photo is from the previous fairy card I created. I used the same technique with blue inks for the mermaid card. You can see more about it on my post here.

Texture Plate Tags

Hello Topflight fans! Ericka here today with two tags I made using the gel press and a texture plate from Carabelle Studio.

I'm still relatively new at using the gel plate and this was my first time using a texture plate but it was so fun to play with the designs. I used the Carabelle Studio Texture Plate with the gel press.

 

The texture these plates leave behind are so detailed and I love the look. For this tag I pressed the tag into the gel plate after I used the texture plate so the paint was darker.

For this tag I pressed the tag onto the plate after I had used it to pick on the ink.

I love the look and textures these plates give to a tag or card. I'll definitely be playing with them some more.
