Be awesome today! - A quick gel print tutorial

 

Good Morning!

Do you have a gel plate but are too afraid to use it? Or have you seen people print on paper and always wondered how they get the different colors to shine through all the layers? Here is a quick tutorial that will take less than 10 minutes to create a project.

Products used:

Gel Press - Reusable Gel Printing Plate - 5 x 7 Rectangle

Quick steps:

1. Apply blue paint to the gel plate

2. Wipe away the blue paint showing through. 

Apply yellow paint over the stencil.

3. Let this dry and then apply the paint that will pull the whole print off the plate. I used white. Apply a thick enough layer to cover the plate but thin enough to see the image press through. 

4. Add some markings with a paint pen for interest and dimension. I couldn't quite get the "pop" I wanted, so I placed the stencil back onto the image and applied distress oxide to the stencil.

5. I used a die to cut the frame/border, and applied black soot Distress Oxide to the edges. I finished the card by adding a sentiment to the bottom.

Isn't this such a cool card? And quick?? I found a stamp in the store with the same image as this stencil.

Don't pop it! ~ The Card Hut

Good morning!

The design team is focusing on stamps from Hobby Art this week, but I recently had a brilliant idea to move and rearrange the stamps that I completely misplaced my stamps. An absolute "daft" move. And then I saw this The Card Hut stamp with Daft and Dotty and decided to use this one instead!

I used an already made gel print made with a Gel Press and acrylic paint and decided to use it as a fun background for this puppy!

I stamped and colored the balloons and used dimensional foam tape to adhere them to the print. 

Since the print was a bit busy, I used white texture paste with a stencil
 with circles to break up the color a bit.

I also placed a white frame on the print to position my little pup on.

 This was such an easy card to make with a fun leftover print that lived in my stash. Any pretty paper would work as well.

Technique

Start off by adding acrylic paint on the page. 

Then stamp and fussy cut all your flowers.

I wanted to use the colors that came in the paint set, so I placed some paint on a gel plate, brayered it on, and then used it as a stamp pad.

I also used it to stamp the circles onto the page.

I wanted some shimmer, so I used the Prism spray with a stencil.

Glue your flowers, add a whimsical frame and
sentiment and you are done!

More Art Journal Pages with PaperArtsy

 Hi, Connie here with another art journal spread using 
PaperArtsy stamps and stencils with some vintage text paper
added randomly.

To create the journal page background I'm using Distress Oxide ink, Archival ink, 
acrylic paint and stencils by PaperArtsy and the creative Sara Neumann.  I'm using
 four of Sara's and one Eclectic set. Some of the images are stamped on 
cardstock and then trimmed out and added to the pages.  The bird is stamped
 directly on the journal page and that can be tricky!

I add an acrylic stamp block under the page, that I'm going to stamp on,
and then press.  Sometimes that works and sometimes you will get a slight slip
of the stamp resulting in a double image or hallow.  Look close I  got
the hallow.  I outlined the bird with a white gel pen, defining the bird.  I did
that on several spots but it just added to the mixed media feel and the
distressed look.  I think the white gel pen worked its magic!!

Sea Shell Tags with Pink Ink

Hi, Connie here with a couple of Sea Shell Tags using the Sea Shell
stamp set by Pink Ink.  We still have a few days of Summer to enjoy,
so Sea Shells it is!!!  Topflight has tons of  ocean related products.
Check them out here.

To create these tags I used Distress Oxide inks (watered down) and stencils
for the background. Doing this type of background works great
in creating an under water effect.  

On this tag the Sea Shells were stamped on the background
using grey ink. The Sea Shells are stamped out on white
cardstock using Distress Oxide inks and then trimmed out. Both
tags are showcasing different Sea Shells.  Netting was added to hold
the shells and add dimension to the tags. White acrylic paint is 
used to highlight the water bubbles created by using a 
stencil.

Random Stamping was added along with words and a quote to 
complete the mixed media style tags.  These will look great in
an art journal!
