Greetings! It's Tuesday so you've got Kathi here to share a project with you! This week's theme is "Anything Goes". Today is November 1st, which is All Saints Day and Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), which is a holiday where families remember their loved ones with celebrations, offerings, and parades. I think it's a really lovely tradition and also love the artwork associated with the holiday.
Here's the card!
I first stamped the the Sugar Skull from the Small Elements #2 Clear Stamp Set by That's Crafty! onto white cardstock, fussy-cut it, colored it with Copic markers, and edged it with a black pen.
I covered the head and beard of the gentleman from the Steampunk Alchemist Clear Stamp Set by Olga Heldwein for AALL and Create, inked the stamp with a no-line coloring ink, and stamped it onto white cardstock. I extended the lines of his shirt color and his jacket with a fineliner pen then colored his outfit with Copic markers. Several layers of Clear Glaze pen were added to his buttons to add dimension and shine. The suit was edged with a dark marker.
The top hat from the Steampunk Alchemist Clear Stamp Set and the Steampunk Hat from the Time Warp Clear Stamp Set by Janet Klein for AALL and Create were stamped with Copic safe black ink onto white cardstock. The top hat and the goggles from the Steampunk hat, were fussy-cut, colored with Copic markers, and edged with a dark marker. Several layers of Clear Glaze pen were added to the goggle lenses to add dimension and shine to them.
The background was previously painted with several colors of Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic Paints by PaperArtsy. When making painted backgrounds, I always make a bunch of them since one never knows.
The clock from the ATC Coins Set #6 by That's Crafty! was stamped several times onto a piece of the painted background paper using Verdant, Green Oasis, and Summertime VersaFine Clair Inks, then heat-set.
The gentleman's suit was adhered to the base of the clock stamped panel. A die-cut birch tree trunk, substituting as neckbones, was adhered under the neckline of the shirt and the sugar skull was adhered in place. The top hat and goggle combination was adhered. This panel was then trimmed and edged with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink at the bottom where the layers were rather thick.
The remaining piece of painted background paper was split into two pieces. The lock and key from the Small Elements #2 Clear Stamp Set by That's Crafty! was stamped onto one of the pieces with Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink, heat set, then painted with a gold paint pen.
Using a stamping platform, select words from the Lots of Words Clear Stamp Set by That's Crafty! were positioned on the second strip of painted background paper, inked with green permanent ink, and stamped.
All three panels were edged with Green Oasis VersaFine Clair Ink, heat set, matted with black cardstock, then adhered to a green 5" x 7" card.
A word die was used to cut the a small strip of the painted background paper. The word die-cut was adhered to a green banner die-cut, then adhered to the card as shown.
