Darkroom Door Junk Journal Page

Hello crafty friends! Ericka from Strangely Creative here and today I am playing in my junk journal. What is a junk journal you may ask? Well, for me its an old magazine I received in the mail, so you could say it's my way of recycling lol. I love playing in my junk journal because I get to experiment and play with color without it worrying about messing up a pretty journal.

I started out by laying out some Studio Light Acrylics from the Intense set on my gesso-ed page. These colors are super bright and I used the sky, royal, and kissy colors. I then added Lavinia Sun Yellow Acrylic spray to the middle of my layout. I added another layer by stamping the Darkroom Door stamps from the set Grunge Marks and You Are Everything. I also used the Diamonds and Honeycomb stencils for additional textures.

While my layout was drying, I stamped the Darkroom Door Sunflowers and Warm Wishes and colored them up using the Spectrum Noir Watercolor Markers. I added some fun to the sunflowers with WOW! Embossing highlights using Pure Platinum embossing powder.

I fussy cut out my flowers and then added them to my pages. I used a stamped the sentiments from both of the sets and also added them to my layout.

To finish my page, I added a little white gel pen scribble to the sides to lighten up the dark edge.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Using Stamps To Make Tabs

Hello Topflight Stamp Fans, Karen Bearse here today with a very versatile idea. This technique can be used in a junk journal, mini album, art journal or even for a card.

I used it on a sideways waterfall for my latest mini album. For the step out techniques you can go here. There are so many stamps you could use for this!! I will add a few that I plan on using in the future.

I started with this wonderful set Gwen LaFleur designed by PaperArtsy.

Of course I had to add some arty butterflies from this That's Crafty set. The script is great too. In fact I love all the images.

The edges of my paper were distressed with my new favorite Prism Ink in French Navy

Any of these way cool postage stamp images by Carabelle Studio would work great for this technique. You could do a regular waterfall with the image at the bottom to flip up.

If you wanted a more whimsical look this set of Art By Marlene would do the trick nicely. Love those balloon fish!! Thanks so much for joining me today, remember code karenbearse gets you 12% off! I hope you get a chance to make some fun tabs for your projects... oh these would be great in planners too! Until next time.

Tea Time Journal Card

Hello Topflight Fans, Karen Bearse here & this week the team is playing with the theme Tea! I have made a journal card for my junk journal, you can find the tutorial here.  I also have a good storage idea for your Prism Inks.

Let's look at the products I used to make this project.

This is the perfect stamp for a tea journal card!

These are the Prism Ink colors. They make nice water color paints.

The Paper Elements pack is different then the one I used but they all have wonderful images.

This was the quote  box set I used to create my journal stamped on lined paper, it is on the back of the card.

Love this wee seed head dandelion stamp! Thanks so much for joining me today. I hope you get the chance to get inky!

Junk Journal with Dots To Diamonds

Hello Topflight Stamp Fans, Karen Bearse here with a quick & easy page & a tutorial on my blog. These techniques can be used for a Junk Journal piece, a card or as an art journal page. This week the team are playing with Dots To Diamonds so check back to see all the wonderful inspiration!

This card was made with just a few simple products that pack a punch!

Start with the Dots to Diamonds paper pad- I used pad #1 but there are a few different to choose from.

Add some Super Matt Varnish to seal & protect the area from ink.

Then for 1 step color that looks like you had to use many layers add some PaperArtsy Infusions.

Now for the bling!! So many Diamond Sparkle colors to choose from!!

The Stamp Set Mail Art by AALL & Create was perfect. There are so many images on this one set!!

The images are so crisp! Look how wonderfully dynamic those Infusions are. Thanks so much for joining me, I hope you get a chance to get inky today!

Darkroom Door Stencils & Script Vintage Journal Page

Hi friends!  Happy Mixed Media Monday from the TFS gang!  Autumn Clark from SewPaperPaint with you today to share a vintage style mixed media collaged journal page featuring exquisite products by Darkroom Door.  This page comes towards the end of an upcycled address book that I've used as a journal and shared on my blog for the past couple of years.  You can find a link to the other spreads HERE.  A general theme has been to build a collage around a Tim Holtz found relative photo that visually reminds me of a part of my own past.  My pages are cutout chipboard that I've gessoed and added spray inks onto.

I used the Handwritten Script small stencil and texture paste and sprayed with inks while the paste was still wet.  This way it soaks up the color and adds contrast to the page.  I then layered vintage papers and more Tim Holtz ephemera, with some stamping using my FAVORITE Darkroom Door Abstract dots stamp #7.  I made a fun little flap to add journaling with by folding a large tea bag in half.  Inside I adhered an old experiment with the Wildflowers small stencil.  I shared that post HERE for Stamps & Stencil a few years ago.

Here's a shot of the opened tea bag flap...

I used a piece of brown paper packaging to stamp the Dreams Quote stamp onto to coordinate with the tea bag.  The circle piece was from the above mentioned tutorial and can be made with the Circles stencil.

I hope these journal pages have inspired you to play with your stamps and stencils today and make something you love.  Enjoy your week!  - Autumn

Darkroom Door Bohemian Lace Journal & Poppy Card

Happy Sunday friends!  It's Autumn Clark from SewPaperPaint with you for a Saturday Special post.  I'm sharing a super quick and easy altered journal/sketchbook that you could easily make as gifts for your boho loving friends.

My friend @carolinasweetlee taught me this technique for making chalkboard paper.  Simply freshly reink your Black Soot Distress Oxide pad and rub it until you cover 98% of a sheet of cardstock.  The white spaces look like a wiped chalkboard.  Now, you need to let this dry 100%!  It will give you black fingerprints and you can easily make a mess, so heat set the paper and set aside for a while.  And clean your fingers!  ;0

I had intended to turn this panel into a card, but liked it so much I adhered it to a purchased journal.  I stamped the Darkroom Door Arrows Background stamp in Black Soot DOX onto white cardstock and stitched it across the chalkboard piece.  Then I stitched lots of laces and velvet trim.

I embossed the Darkroom Door Wander Quote stamp in Brass EP and mounted it over my collage.  You could use any color of EP here to coordinate with your own trims.  I adhered a trio of vintage buttons along the top.

Lastly, I sanded the kraft paged notebook to remove the sheen so it would tie in with the chalkboard.  I adhered my panel onto the front, then adhered lace "bookmarks to the inside front cover with cloth tape.

I used the remainder of my Black Soot chalkboard panel to whip out another simple card using the same stamps.  I tucked in a paper poppy and added red stitching and embossing to give this card more of a pop.

I hope you find these projects inspiring and will take a peek at the Topflight Stamps shop for more Darkroom Door stamps to spark your muse.
