Tracy Evans Poppies for AALL and Create

 

Now for today's inspiration...  Hi friends!  It's Autumn Clark from SewPaperPaint with you today to share a few slimline cards featuring the gorgeous Poppy Seedheads stamp by Tracy Evans for AALL & Create.  I have been itching to use this gorgeous stamp and finally sat down to some good old inky fun.  

I used different combinations of Distress Inks to make my backgrounds and to watercolor the poppies.  I cut them out and mounted them for dimension. 

I wanted to tie the red from the poppies in another way, so I stamped a portion of one of my all time favorite AALL & Create stamps, Enumerated by Olga Heldwein and cut it with postal edge scissors.  I popped it up and added a twine bow and snippet of label tape.  These were fun to make!  I hope they've inspired you to have a play.  Hugs, Autumn

AALL & Create Tracy Evans Hare Easter Cards

Hi friends!  It's Autumn Clark from SewPaperPaint with you today to share a couple of mixed media Easter cards inspired by the gorgeous Hare stamp by Tracy Evans for AALL & Create.  He is one of my favorite designs by Tracy and I really wanted to use him as an Easter image.  I've shared another card with him HERE in the past and love when a stamp is very versatile.  

For this card, I imagined Mr. Rabbit hopping through a field bringing treats to my kids, so I tried to recreate that thought with paper.  

I pulled a bunch of gel printed papers I've made over time the Gel Press printing plate and various AALL & Create stencils.  I stamped some of Tracy's flower stamps and the bunny and fussy cut them all.  I used green printed paper to make layers of grassy hills, mounted over a blue sky print.  I hope this card has inspired you to pull out your prints and make some stamped scenes yourself.

 

Since I had my prints all on my art table, I pulled together a second card.  Again with the Hare stamp, this time layered with flowers by Olga Heldwein for AALL & Create.  I simply adore this flower set.  I stamped the flowers with grey ink and used grey Frescos to print the bunny.  

 

For both cards I added a sentiment sticker, a doodled border and machine stitching around the edge.  I was tempted to make the second card into a "welcome baby" card, but don't know of any babies being born.  But you could certainly use this stamp to make a sweet baby card, in addition to so many other themes.  Thanks so much for joining us today!  Hugs, Autumn

Creating the look of Wood Carved Stamps with Rubber Dance

Welcome to the Topflight Stamps blog!  It's Jenny here, and today I'm showing you several different projects using a stamp set that mimics the look of wood carved stamps, and which can give a great focal point to a simple card.

The stamps I used for this are the Carved Whimsy Wood Stamp set by Rubber Dance.  They are rubber stamps but have etchings that give them the look of carved wood when you stamp them. 

To create my watercolor block printing cards, I used a variety of shapes of acrylic block.  On each one I swiped Distress inks or Distress Oxide Inks over the block - on the longest I used three colors, and on the smaller blocks (one is a circle) I used two colors.  I then liberally sprayed them with water and then pushed them down into a panel of Canson XL coldpress watercolor paper, then lifted off, dabbing up any excess with a paper towel. 

On the pink leaf stamp, I also splattered some of the excess paint with a small paintbrush.On the tree card, I ran the panel through a die cutting machine with a woodgrain embossing folder.  When dry, I stamped the images in a variety of dye inks, masking off the trees witha  post it to create a cluster. 

I then trimmed down each of the panels to 4.25" x 5.5" and adhered with double sided tape to white 110lb card bases and added a tiny sentiment from the Tim Holtz Ideology Chit-Chat stickers collection.

For my final card, I trimmed down a panel of wood paper (made from real wood) and stamped it with brown dye ink, stamping off onto scrap paper first so the impression was a lighter brown.  Before it dried, I heat embossed the tree in clear embossing powder, and added a sentiment. I adhered it to a kraft card panel.
