Kate Crane Face Stamps Valentine Card

Hi folks!  It's Autumn Clark from SewPaperPaint here today to share some funky fun mixed media Valentine cards with you.  I picked out a rather odd assortment of stamps and stencils for my cards, but am very happy at how well they played together.  I started by having a printmaking session with my 6" square gel plate and the gorgeous PaperArtsy stencil PS210 by Tracy Scott.  I thought the round shape would halo my chosen face stamp well.

I used PaperArtsy Fresco Chalk Acrylics in Red Lipstick and Bubblegum with white paint to create my prints.  When I had finished I decided they were a little too monotone and dipped them into watered Distress Ink in Tea Dye to "warm them up."  I used it with Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberries to watercolor my Art Doll faces by Kate Crane.  I extended the color beyond the border to make the image appear larger, then fussy cut around it.  I used some scrap strips to do a mop up from my watercoloring, then stamped the Words by Hobby Art in Picked Raspberries and Tea Stain at the bottom, layering with a black die cut and a twine wrap.  To add even more texture, I stained some paper doilies with Tea Stain ink and crumpled them up beneath.  I added a splash of black gesso to further grunge them up.  They were fun to make and I hope they make you smile.  Big hugs, Autumn

  1. Clever idea to use some paper doilies with some ink and that idea with the twine has been done over and over but yours looks different, Autumn! The pink colors are perfect for the upcoming holiday. Now, you've inspired me on how oe can use those unique face stamps. Thanks.
