Warm Wishes

Greetings! Since it's Tuesday, you've got Kathi here to share a project with you. This week my teammates and I are showcasing Jane's Doodles Stamps. I decided to work with the Snow Globe Clear Stamp Set, which has a snow globe stamp, a Santa stamp, a snowman stamp, a Fox stamp, a penguin stamp, a Christmas Tree stamp, gift stamps, and sentiment stamps. I know that this is the perfect stamp set for the winter holidays, however, I decided to create an autumn eclipse card to show the set's versatility.

Here's my card.

The first thing I did was to remove all the stamps from the Snow Globe Clear Stamp Set's clear acetate index sheet so that I could use it to determine placement of the fox and the snowglobe.

The acetate was placed on my stamping platform and the fox stamp was placed facedown on the snowglobe. It was stamped onto white cardstock and onto repositionable label paper, which was fussy-cut and placed over its counterpart as a mask.

The snowglobe was stamped onto the image panel and onto repositionable label paper two times. The label paper versions were fussy-cut -- once its entirety, being sure to keep the outline space intact, the other time around the grass border and base.

The grass border and base were placed over their counterparts on the image panel and blue ink was lightly brushed overtop.

The Tree Stencil PS215 by Kay Carley for PaperArtsy was positioned on the image panel and brown ink was brushed over the tree trunk and branch portions.

The flattest hill from the Acetate Hill Masks/Stencils by Lavinia Stamps was placed over the stenciled tree roots and the base of the image panel.

Light green, yellow, orange, rust, and red inks were brushed over the leafy portions of the stencil. This step was repeated several times until I was happy with the leafiness of it all.

The stencils were removed and cleaned. The masks were removed and reserved for later use.

The grass, tree trunk, tree branches, fox, and snowglobe base were colored with Copic markers. The fox's eyes were touched with a black glossy gel pen to bring them forward. His nose got a dot of white gel ink.

The snowglobe outline was placed onto the image panel. Blue ink was brushed over the mask to add depth and dimension to the snow globe. The outline mask was removed and reserved. White pencil was used to add highlights to the snowglobe glass.

A Post-It Note was used to cover parts of the "Warm Winter Wishes" sentiment from the Holiday Fox Clear Stamp Set #607 by Janet Klein for AALL and Create, inked with Onyx Black VersaFine Ink by Tsukineko, and stamped onto the image panel.

The word Autumn was die-cut from the image panel and from rust cardstock.

The image panel was trimmed to 4." x 5.25" and adhered to a rust A2 card. The rust word was adhered in place and the leafy version was adhered over it to finish the card.
