Autumn Theme on Mixed Media Monday

Hello Topflight Stamps Fans, Karen Bearse here today with a lovely autumn card/tag. This week the Design Team is playing with all things fall or autumn. For all the details on how I made this shimmer card of fall head over to my blog, & see my tutorial here.

I love to recycle as you know & this tag was made from the packaging of the Distress Mica Stains. It makes for a nice sturdy base that is a good size to add some Autumn like stamped ephemera. Bonus you make something beautiful!

The focal image of my card is the smaller mushroom on this PaperArtsy set by Kay Carly. The 2 smallest shrooms were used too.

The background stamps were from this set by Sara Naumann - ESN43

For a good spider web stencil look no further then this one.

The quote & one of my favorite fall sets is this Autumn Nights by Indigo Blu. So many great images.  I wanted to add the crow & embossed one but it was too dark on my background, maybe I should have added some leaves.

Don't forget the inks!! Thanks so much for joining me today! I hope you get the chance to get inky.

Elephant Van Gogh card by Katzelkraft

Hi, Connie here with a fun artsy card using Elephant Van Gogh by
Katzelkraft.  Topflight Stamps has 3 different Elephant stamps
 and they are all winners!!!

The background, on this card, is created using Distress Oxide inks
and speckled with water for a distressed look.  I used the landscape
of the Winter Deer Scene stamp (masked off the part I didn't need) and
stamped a tree behind Elephant Van Gogh.  The art easel has a
small deer stamped on from the Mini Reindeer set.

The elephant is colored in with Distress Oxide inks, cut out and adhered
using dimensional adhesive. The paint pallet has real acrylic paint
dabbed on for each color.  The sentiment is stamped on white
cardstock, trimmed out and adhered to the card front.  The card front is
adhered to a folded card base.  Several colored mats are added.

Let's Make an Art Card!

Hello Topflight Stamps, Karen Bearse here with an art card that can be used in a small journal, for a card or as a pocket in a mixed media art journal. As always there is a full tutorial on my blog.

Here is my card, this week the team are playing with Stamperia & those were the stamps used for my focal images.

This set Cosmos Feather has wonderfully detailed images. The bonus is the image is on the back of the stamp for easy placement. Love that feather!

The background was created using this Rounded Rectangles stencil & also...

This fabulous numbers set PS208, one of my favorites & should be used over & over!

Of course we need color, my usual go to products are Fresco Finish paint, for one. It dries with a matte finish & can be written on with any type of pen once dry which is a unique trait.

For stamping I love the coverage of Prism Inks. I need to add to my collection!

I also really like this glue for adhering heavier pieces like card stock stamped images. Cosmic Shimmer Quick Grab. For a compete list of supplies please head over to my blog & see how this card was made! That's it for this week, I hope you get the chance to get inky!!

Dream ART with AALL & Create

Hi, Connie here with  a mixed media type card using stamps by
AALL & Create.  I love the distressed look, of these stamps, so
perfect for a mixed media creation.

I started by building a background with the set #26 / Paint Brushes.  I
stamped them in an up and down pattern using Archival /Jet Black ink.
The stamped background was dabbed in Distress Oxide ink, watered down, to
add color to the background of the card.  A second set, of the brushes,
were stamped out and then trimmed out.  The cut out brushes were
clumped together and secured with washi tape/ ponder #3 by
AALL & Create.  The tips of the brushes were painted with acrylic
paint /Fresco South Pacific by Paperarsty.  The paint matched the washi
tape perfectly. Win Win!!

The words are from the #26 stamps and the #114 stencil.  To add interest the
card edges were torn and then adhered to white cardstock.  Foam adhesive
was used to adhere the card front to black cardstock.  The card front was
speckled with acrylic paint /Fresco Iceberg by Paperartsy.

Spread Your Wings with Darkroom Door

Hi crafty friends, Connie here with a mixed media type card
using the Spread Your Wings stamp set by Darkroom Door.  I love
creating mixed media backgrounds using Brushos and
 Distress Oxide inks.

After the background was created with Brushos, Distress Oxide inks and a stencil,
the large butterfly was stamped on the background. I used the Brick Wall stencil by
Darkroom Door to enhance the background.

The two top butterflies were stamped out a mixed media background and then
cut out and adhered to the center of the large butterfly.  The sentiment is embossed
with WOW Embossing Powder.  Dimensional adhesive is used to adhere
each butterfly to create a stacked effect. White and black acrylic paint is used
to splatter the card, giving the card a distressed look.

Mixed Media Card with Hobby Art Ltd.

Hi, Connie here with a mixed media type card using products by Hobby Art Ltd.
I started with Distress Oxide inks and a Funky Foliage stencil from
the Topflight Store.
  Step one: build a background.

Apply the ink to the card base and sprinkle with water (to activate the ink)
and make water spots,  Just another way to add texture to the background.
Add the script stamp, from the Hobby Art Ltd. Words set, using black ink.

Step two:
Stamp the butterflies, out on cardstock, and shade with Distress Oxide
inks. Cut them out and add to the card front.  Mat the card front with two
different colors of cardstock and then adhere to the folded card
base.  Stamp sentiment and speckle card with white
acrylic paint.

Quick & Shimmer Snow Day Card

Hi Topflight Stamp Fans, Karen Bearse starting off the week with the theme of snow! I have a quick tutorial on my blog showing you how this came together. December is such a busy month but I still want to have some crafting time to stay sane.

This page came together quickly using a few short cuts. I am loving the collage papers Art By Marlene has available. They make creating a mixed media background so simple. I am using it as an album page with space for a photo or journal spot. If you want to make this into a card simply move the title down.

Let's talk product! The background started out with a splatter look piece of collage paper. This is Artsy Arabia, there are 2 different packs of paper available. It was also used behind the quote title.

For my title my new favorite Grungy Alphabet stamp set by Tracy Evans  was used. Love this font.

To make sure my letters stayed put & using the easy line guide a Stamp Platform is always a good idea.

Of course a Snowflake Background was needed & this is my Darkroom Door go to.

I wanted a glimmer look to my snowflakes & Mermaid Fin embossing fit the bill. There is a beautiful blue/teal shimmer going on. Just heat set it & go.

Finally a nice die cut image from this Paper Elements pack made this project quick & easy.  With more then 250 pieces it was pretty simple to find a beautiful image that fit.

Lastly I grabbed a quick Sticky Quote, trimmed it & stuck it down. Easy breezy. I really am enjoying using these both as a quote & for inspiration. Each quote comes in black or white & they are interestingly different. To wrap it up, crafting at the holidays does not have to take a lot of time and it is a great relaxer. I hope you get the chance to get inky today!!
