Skull Buggy for Halloween!

Greetings! It's Tuesday so you've got Kathi here today. My teammates and I are sharing Autumn and/or Halloween projects this week. I love Halloween, so I've created four tags with the Skull Bugs Clear Stamp Set by Melina Dahl for That's Crafty.

Here they are! By the way, they're all the same size in real life.

Each pair of backgrounds was created by shaking some Black and Brilliant Red Brusho Crystal Colours onto damp mixed media cardstock, then spraying them with Black Soot Distress Oxide Spray and water. More of the Brusho Crystals were added here and there and sprayed with water. White Seam Binding was used to sop up the excess inky goodness.  All four pieces of cardstock and the seam binding were heat set and die-cut to create the tag fronts.

The skull-spider , the skull-dragonfly, and the skull-ladybugs were stamped directly onto the tags. The skull-ladybug and the skull-butterfly were stamped onto white cardstock, fussy-cut, colored and added later.

White or black ink was stamp the backgrounds to add more detail.

If you'd like to learn more about the creation of these tags, please visit my blog, Kat's Tales of Stamping, for complete supply lists and detailed instructions.

Lavinia Stenciled Sea Turtle with Brusho Powders

Hi friends, it's Autumn Clark from SewPaperPaint with you today to share a fun summertime card featuring this gorgeous Crafty Individuals Sea Turtle stamp.  I had a play with the lovely new Lavinia Elements Dye Ink Pads, brayering Blue Lagoon onto my Gel Press printing plate.  This is a fun technique Lavinia shares on their YouTube and Instagram pages.  Once I brayered the ink, I then splashed on heavily diluted Brusho pigment powders onto the gel plate using a fan brush.  This creates all of those lovely splashy pools on your paper, all tinted with your base color.  I took the ink that was left on my brayer and did a second panel.  You can see how much lighter it is in the background, but perfectly coordinated.  I used the Crealies XXL Square Stitched Nesting dies to cut the center of the lighter panel and saved it for another project.  I then cut the top panel with the next larger die so it would overlap and not show my cutaway.  This is a great trick to maximize those precious inky papers!

I wanted to create a little more depth so I stenciled more Mermaid Elements ink through the Lavinia Flora stencil.  I finished the design by embossing a portion of the Make Art Sentiment Strip stamp by Darkroom Door in white and adding a few details with a white paint pen.  I love this technique and hope you will too!  Hugs, Autumn

Spread Your Wings with Darkroom Door

Hi crafty friends, Connie here with a mixed media type card
using the Spread Your Wings stamp set by Darkroom Door.  I love
creating mixed media backgrounds using Brushos and
 Distress Oxide inks.

After the background was created with Brushos, Distress Oxide inks and a stencil,
the large butterfly was stamped on the background. I used the Brick Wall stencil by
Darkroom Door to enhance the background.

The two top butterflies were stamped out a mixed media background and then
cut out and adhered to the center of the large butterfly.  The sentiment is embossed
with WOW Embossing Powder.  Dimensional adhesive is used to adhere
each butterfly to create a stacked effect. White and black acrylic paint is used
to splatter the card, giving the card a distressed look.

Spring Butterflies Are Here

Nothing screams Spring like Butterflies. Hi, Connie here with a Screaming
Spring card that was fun to create!! I hope you think so too!!

A background was created using the AALL & Create #457 stamp set.  A silhouette flower,
from the You Are Everything, by Darkroom Door was added also.  The butterflies were
stamped on a mixed media collage of colors.
I used Brusho/Olive Green by Colourcraft to get the green mix of color.
The images were cut out and adhered over the stamped background.

The sentiment is from the You Are Everything set by Darkroom Door. The last thing is
I gave the card front a splat of black ink and green ink.  White acrylic paint is speckled
over the butterflies.

Spring Scene

Greetings! It's Kathi here to share a project with you. This week my teammates and I are celebrating Spring and/or Mother's Day. Since the trees, dandelions, tulips, and hyacinths are starting to bloom, I opted to celebrate spring with my card. Over thirty years ago, I spent part of April and May visiting my husband in Holland. He was there for work for three months and I took a leave of absence to join him and we spent weekends sightseeing, visiting gardens, windmills, museums, and different towns. Honestly, it could not have been a more perfect time to visit! Everything was in bloom and as we traveled mostly by train, we were astonished by the fields of tulips stretching from the tracks to the horizon. The rows were grouped by color and were just amazing.

Hmm. I prattled on there for a bit but I wanted you to know why I had to have the Art  By Marlene Go Dutch #16 Clear Stamp Set by Studio Light when I saw it.

Here's my card.

I started the card by stamping the Dutch Girl and the windmill with Memento ink. They were both fussy-cut, colored with Copic markers, and edged with a dark marker. They were set aside while I created a suitable background.

Brusho Crystal Color Colours by Colourcraftare such fun to use and help to create a quick variegated background. There are so many ways to use them, but I chose to simply sprinkle a bit of a bit of Cobalt and White onto watercolor paper, spritz with water, then use a paper towel to spread the color horizontally.

The next step was to tear some cardstock, then brush Rainforest Green Prism Ink and Evergreen Prism Ink over the top of the torn cardstock onto the background paper. The torn edge was moved down a bit, then the colors were brushed over the edge again. This was repeated until I was happy with my background scene.

Since the windmill from the Art  By Marlene Go Dutch #16 Clear Stamp Set  had so many wonderful details that I didn't want to lose, I used my stamp platform and Onyx Black VersaFine Ink by Tsukineko to stamp it onto the background. While I was at it I also stamped the happy little sun from the Art By Marlene Marlene's World Happy Birthday Clear Stamp Set by Studio Light onto the background, then again onto a scrap of watercolor paper and heat set everything to prevent smudging.

Yellow Brusho Crystal Color Colours was sprinkled onto my craft sheet, spritzed with water, and used to paint the sun that was on the watercolor paper. The sun was fussy-cut and edged with a dark marker.

Now that the windmill was stamped onto the background, I decided to add a worn grassy path to the door. This was done by putting two Post-It Notes on diagonals stretching from the door to the base of the panel and sponging Evergreen Prism Ink over the edges of the notes onto the background. I also used a bit of chalk pencil to add some shading under the windmill and where the girl was going to stand.

The colored, fussy-cut windmill and sun were adhered over their counterparts on the background. The girl was also adhered as shown.

A red paint pen was used to add color to the hearts. A white paint pen was used over the stamped sun rays, allowed to dry, then yellow paint pen was applied overtop.

I couldn't decide on a sentiment, so I left the card blank until it's needed.

If you'd like to learn more about this card, please pop over to my blog, Kat's Tales of Stamping.

Pigment Powder Ocean Scene

  Hi Everyone,

Cornelia here today!
This week we are all playing with pigment powders, such as Infusions or Brushos.

I used the Visible Image fishnet stencil, attached it to my card base and sprinkled Infusions as well as Brushos on my card. Spritzed with water and took the stencil off. Let it dry. Stamped the  octopus and fish onto scrap paper, colored them and added them to the card. Stamped the shoals of fish. Added the heat embossed sentiment. Trimmed the card and added it to a white card base.

I just love ocean scenes!
See you next week with more Topflight Stamps inspiration.
