Be Creative

It's Tuesday so you've got Kathi here to share a project with you. This week my teammates and I are showcasing Darkroom Door's wonderful projects. Rachel Greig was the muse behind Darkroom Door. She was a photographer, an artist, a visionary, and a genuinely kind strong woman. Sadly, she recently passed away. In honor of her life and her legacy, Topflight Stamps is hosting a challenge on social media.

Here's the information about this special event from the most recent Topflight Stamps Newsletter:
"We will be having a fun social media challenge to celebrate Darkroom Door Stamps and Stencils and honoring the life of Rachel Grieg. She would love nothing more than to have so many new projects created using the products she created.

To enter the challenge, just create a project using at least one Darkroom Door product. Post it to the Topflight Stamps Design Gallery on Facebook and/or post it on your Instagram feed and use the hashtag #TFSDDC. I'm looking forward to seeing all the amazing things that will be created. I encourage you all to be on the lookout and leave positive comments on these projects. Let's all spread some kindness in memory of Rachel.

The prize for this challenge is a huge package of Darkroom Door stamps with a retail value of over $200!!! To be eligible to win, post your project any day in September and be sure to use the hashtag #TFSDDC. A winner will be chosen at random on October 1 and announced shortly thereafter. The more projects you post the better your chances of winning! I think this is going to be really fun!"

The pen, from the Pen and Ink Cling Rubber Stamp Set , was stamped using Copic-friendly ink meant for no-lines coloring onto white cardstock and onto sticker paper. The sticker paper version was fussy-cut and layered atop its counterpart as a mask.

The lidded ink bottle, from the Pen and Ink Cling Rubber Stamp Set, was stamped with black Copic-friendly ink onto the image panel and onto sticker paper, which was adhered atop its counterpart. Two other bottles from the set were positioned on either side of the center bottle, then stamped onto the image panel and onto sticker paper. The sticker paper versions were placed over their counterparts as masked.

A ruler was placed horizontally across the image panel covering the bottom part of the bottles and the pen. Mermaid Elements Ink by Lavinia Stamps and greener aqua Distress ink were brushed over the masks and the ruler onto the image panel to add a colored background.

The ruler was moved to cover the top part of the image panel and a Copic friendly tan ink was brushed over the bottom parts of the masked images and the ruler onto the base of the image panel.

The masks were lifted and the images were colored with Copic markers. White gel pen was added to the bottles as a highlight. The inage panel was die-cut with the one of the dies from the Card Passe Partout Rectangle Essential Die Set by Studio Light, which left a piece of inked cardstock to use for the sentiment.

Mermaid Elements Ink by Lavinia Stamps was brushed over a piece of white cardstock. Warm Breeze VersaFine Clair Ink by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko was used to ink the The Spanish Tiles Cling Background Rubber Stamp, which was then stamped onto the Mermaid-inked cardstock to create the background layer. This was slightly trimmed, then edged with  Warm Breeze VersaFine Clair Ink .

Warm Breeze VersaFine Clair Ink by Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko was brushed over a piece of plain cardstock cut .25" larger than the image panel die-cut and a 6.25" x 4.25" textured white card to create perfectly matching layers.

Post-It Notes were used to cover the sentiments surrounding "Be Creative" on the Make Art Cling Sentiment Strip Rubber StampWarm Breeze VersaFine Clair Ink was used to ink the sentiment, the Post-It Notes were removed, and the sentiment was stamped onto the scrap of leftover inked cardstock mentioned above.

Framed Sentiment Dies were used to cut the sentiment and a piece of textured white cardstock that had been inked with Warm Breeze VersaFine Clair Ink.

The layers were assembled as shown above to complete the card.
