Christmas Ephemera for Junk Journals with PaperArtsy

Hi Topflight Stamps Fans, Karen Bearse here making ephemera with PaperArtsy infusions for this Mix Media Monday. I had so much fun playing & experimenting with these crystal gems. I encourage you to see what great backgrounds, paper for die cuts or journal cards you can come up with. The possibilities are limitless. I have a full tutorial on my blog here.

Here is some of the fun created with this play!

To start with you definitely need some Infusions. I used mainly Lemoncello, Emerald Isle, Black Current, Black Knight, Sunset Beach, Royal Blood, & A Bit Jaded.

All the stamps used were by PaperArtsy. This is ZA18.

Here is a fun Christmas set that is great for some background image as well as focal points. ESN40

When creating holiday projects remember you can use images & quotes from other sets. The Don't forget to fly is perfect for Christmas! ETS27.

Here is one of my finished tags, you can see the stamping in the background, the stamped images which were colored with watercolor paint & some extra ephemera. This tag is perfect for art journal, December Daily or your scrapbook page. I hope you get a chance to get inky today!

Black Crow Stamped Tag

Hello Topflight Stamp fans – I'd like to introduce our November Guest Designer, Mary Szymanski! We are excited to see what she's going to cook up for us this month. Here is a little bit about her:

I am a wife and mom living in Southeastern Michigan. I’m a self taught Mixed Media Artist who loves to work with color and texture. I usually work small, on ATCs, small journal pages and canvases. I’ve been known to work on bigger canvases a time or two. I enjoy sharing my work and teaching budding artists how to make their own projects with fun textures and supplies.

Now check out this cool mixed media tag she's created for her first project! Read on for her directions on how this came together:

Hi, crafty friends!  Mary Szymanski here on the Topflight Stamps Blog as the November Guest Designer showing you how I used some wonderful stamps you can get on Topflight Stamps to create this fun tag.

I started off by swiping a #8 manila tag through watered down distress inks in greens and blues.  I love the abstract look of that technique.  Kind of looks like the sky and trees to me.

I then took the beautiful Carabelle Studio Indian Inspired #1 by Birgit Koopsen stamp (pictured below) and stamped it all around the tag with brown distress ink with and without water sprayed on the stamp.  The image is not whole or perfect and that's what I was going for.  It makes the tag a little grungy looking.

I also used the brown ink to edge the tag.

I stamped the beautiful Lavinia Crow Drake Stamp (pictured below) in the bottom right corner.  I ripped brown and white chevron washi tape and made a "branch" for the crow to stand on.

To add a few more focal points, I stamped the small flower from the PaperArtsy JOFY 64 set (pictured below) on white cardstock and colored them with light green, orange and yellow markers, cut them out and glued them down.  Then I drew in the stems and colored them in with a green paint pen.

I made some marks on the bottom of the tag with a green paint pen to make "grass".  For a final touch, I added a black and white quote sticker which says, "there is beauty in simplicity".

I tied some fancy string and seam binding through the hole and viola!

Here are some closeups of the finished tag:

I hope you are inspired by this project I created using Topflight Stamps and want to create a fun tag of your own!

Autumn Fairy

Ahh, Autumn.  My favorite time of year!  Today's card features Lavinia Autumn Fall Large but you could easily substitute Lavinia Tree Goddess Luna, Lavinia Raven, Lavinia Three Dancing Fairies and many more for this scene.

I started the card by sponging the card front with Distress Oxide Mustard Seed, Ripe Persimmon, and Candied Apple. I then used the PaperArtsy JOFY PS147 Stencil to represent the floating path of leaves.

I spattered PaperArtsy Autumn Fire and Terracotta Fresco Chalk Paint onto the background. I did water it down a bit for easier spattering.

I stamped the Lavinia Fairy images and the PaperArtsy Alison Bomber 04 using Stazon Jet black and my MISTI.

I used Stazon as I wasn't sure if my go-to Versafine Onyx Black would smear on the paint spatters.

For the falling leaves I stamped a leaf from L'Encre et L'Image Falling in Love onto Studio Light Art by Marlene Collage Paper #3 using Versafine Onyx Black.

You know I love that paper--lots of oomph without the mess!

You Hold the Power...

Hello everyone!  Betsy on the blog today sharing with you this encouraging card using
AALL & CREATE - Curiosities   stamp set

This is such an interesting stamp set and very different.  I love the ideas that were popping into my head just looking at it!
I started by stamping the hand on Neenah card stock and coloring it with Copics.  I used a
Copic-friendly black ink and when I colored, I extended the arm as I knew I wanted it to
come from the side of the card.

Note when I fussy cut out the hand I cut off the string and heart.  I trimmed my background paper to
4" x 5 1/4".  I then stamped the sentiment and I also stamped just the string with the heart...lining up the string with the point of the star.  After I colored the hand I took a black Copic-friendly marker and extended the outline of the arm.

Next I added Stickles to the heart and I dotted the background with it using a toothpick.  I then adhered the hand using foam tape making sure the string that was visible on the finger lined up with the string on the base of the card.

I adhered a piece of specialty card stock to my A2 size white top folding card base.  Then as a final bit of bling I used a sparkle pen there and there...and that finished my card!
