Happy Bird Day!

It's Tuesday, so you've got Kathi here today to share a project with you. This week my teammates and I are showcasing the wonderful products by Craft Emotions. You might not know this, but I'm a bird watcher and a bird brain, so when I saw the fabulous new Birds 1 and Birds 2 Clear Polymer Stamp Set by Carla Creaties for Craft Emotions, I just had to get them.

I envisioned two of the birds from the Birds 2  as celebrating a bird day by dancing a do-si-do country style. Here's the card.

I used a stamping platform to get the positioning I wanted for my dancing bird pair.

The bird on the left, from the Birds 2 Clear Polymer Stamp Setwas stamped with Copic friendly black ink onto white cardstock and onto label paper, which was fussy-cut and used as a mask.

The bird on the right was positioned with his left wing tip touching/holding his partner's. The bird was inked with Copic-friendly black ink and stamped onto the image panel and onto label paper, which was fussy-cut and used to mask the image.

A piece of plastic was placed horizontally over the top of the image and Copic-friendly tan ink was brushed under the birds to ground them. The plastic was flipped and blue Copic-friendly ink was brushed over the birds to create a background.

The image panel was set aside while I created the rest of the card. White cardstock was brushed with Paprika Elements Ink by Lavinia Stamps. The ink was heat set and I used second largest rectangle die from the Card Passe Partout Rectangle Essentials Die Set by Studio Light to cut the inked cardstock. I then used a scalloped rectangle die from the set to cut the rectangle, then used the stitched rectangle die to cut a frame in the scalloped rectangle die-cut.

The image panel was cut smaller than the scalloped rectangle frame and adhered behind the frame. Kraft cardstock was cut with a rectangle die from the set and used to mat the framed image panel.

The Checkered Stencil by Darkroom Door was placed over the large rectangle die-cut then Emperor Red Elements Ink by Lavinia Stamps was sponged over the stencil onto the rectangle die-cut. The same ink was used to edge the stenciled die-cut.

Kraft cardstock was cut, scored, and folded to form a card. The stenciled die-cut was adhered to the card and the matted image panel was adhered as shown.

Nocturne VersaFine Clair Ink by Imagine Crafts was used to stamp the "Happy Bird Day" sentiment from the Birds 1 Clear Polymer Stamp Set by Carla Creaties for Craft Emotions onto the interior scrap from the Paprika-sponged frame, heat set, and cut with a circle die. A piece of kraft cardstock was cut with a scalloped circle die and used to mat the sentiment. The matted sentiment circle had its top cut off, was sponged with Emperor Red Elements Ink, then adhered as shown to finish the card.
