Greetings! It's Tuesday so you've got Kathi here to share a project with you. This week my teammates and I are showcasing Crafty Individuals' wonderful stamps. I've made a large tag using the Rising Phoenix Unmounted Rubber Stamp Set 582 by Crafty Individuals on a background created with the Simply Radiant Stencil by Heffy Doodle, Graphite, Paprika, Russet Orange, and Sundance Elements Inks by Lavinia Stamps.
Here it is!
The first step was to use Onyx Black VersaFine Ink by Tsukineko to stamp the gorgeous Phoenix from the Rising Phoenix Unmounted Rubber Stamp Set 582 onto a 4" x 9" piece of mixed media cardstock.
The Graphite Elements Ink Pad was smooshed onto a craft mat and misted with water. A paint brush was used to brush the ink upwards from the base of the panel and inwards from both edges. The ink puddle was misted again to further lighten the ink. The diluted ink was carefully painted around the Phoenix to tint the white paper, then white seam binding was used to sop up the excess ink.
Paprika Elements Ink Pad was smooshed onto the craft mat and misted with water. Again, a paint brush was used to brush the ink from the base upwards and inwards from both edges, overlapping the grey and building color. The seam binding was dipped into the excess ink to add color.
The same process was repeated using the Russet Orange Elements Ink Pad until I was happy with the coverage. The seam binding took a dip in the excess ink to build more color. The seam binding was scrunched up and heat set.
The phoenix was covered, the background was lightly misted with water, then the panel was heat set.
The Simply Radiant Stencil by Heffy Doodle was placed over the image panel and Sundance Elements Ink was brushed overtop.
The stencil was removed and the phoenix was colored with watercolor markers. I'm still relatively new to using these, so I'm not totally thrilled with my blends. Oh well.
The image panel was die-cut with the tag die, edged with Midnight Black Prism Ink by Hunkydory Crafts, and heat set.
The Graphite Elements Ink Pad was smooshed again onto a craft mat and misted with water. A small piece of mixed media cardstock was repeatedly dipped into the ink until it was covered, heat set, and die-cut with the sentiment die. Onyx Black VersaFine Ink by Tsukineko was used to stamp the sentiment onto the circle die-cut, then a paint pen was used to add a bit of color to the outline type.
Metallic gold cardstock was die-cut with the sentiment die, then adhered to the tag. The sentiment was added, the tag was adhered to a tag base, and the seam binding was tied to the top of the tag.
