You Go Gull!

It's Tuesday which means you've got Kathi here to share a project with you! We're in the middle of a heat wave, so I decided to a slimline card with a cool beach scene with the You Go Gull Clear Stamp Set and the Wave to Me Stencil by Heffy Doodle. This stencil is no longer available, but the Land and Sea Stencil by Polkadoodles would be a good substitute.

Here's the card!

Use black Copic-friendly ink to stamp all five seagulls, the buoy, the fishing buoy, and three wooden piers  from the You Go Gull Clear Stamp Set by Heffy Doodle onto white cardstock. Fussy-cut all of elements, color them with Copic markers, and edge them with a black pen. Set them aside.

Trim a piece of Bristol or other heavy-weight water-philic paper to 3.5" x 8.5". Use a piece of paper or plastic to mask off the top area. Use torn paper to mask off the bottom area.

Use the largest of the Black Blending Brushes by Time for Tea Designs to brush Mermaid Elements Ink by Lavinia Stamps between the two masked areas. Place the Wave to Me or other Wave Stencil over the newly inked areas and brush Blue Lagoon Blue Lagoon over the stencil onto the background image panel.

Move the plastic or paper covering the top portion of the image panel to cover the sea. Brush Della Blue Elements Ink over the panel to create a blue sky.

Remove the torn paper mask below the ocean and brush tan Copic friendly ink over the top part of the torn paper. Move the torn edge down then brush the tan ink upwards over the edge. Continue until the sandy beach is completed to your liking. Use a Copic marker to add detail and dimension to the beach.

Adhere the three piers, the navigational buoy, the fishing buoy, and all the seagulls as shown. Use Copic makers to add shadow below all the fussy-cut elements.

Apply white gel pen squiggles and lines to the sea area, then smudge them with your finger. Go back and add more white gel pen accents, but leave them intact.

Use a stamping platform and Onyx Black VersaFine Ink by Tsukineko to stamp the sentiment as shown.

Edge the background panel with a dark grey or black marker. Adhere to a white slimline card.
