Greetings! It's Tuesday so you've got Kathi here to share a project with you! This week my teammates and I are celebrating Christmas in July. Here's my Christmas card featuring the singing Cats on a Wall Unmounted Red Rubber Stamp Set by Katzelkraft on a a background created with the Winter's Snowflakes Clear Polymer Stamp Set by Hobby Art Ltd. and Arctic Mist and Periwinkle Prism Inks by Hunkydory Crafts. The speech bubble sentiment combines Heffy Doodle's Classic Sentiments Clear Stamp Set and the Purrfect Day Clear Stamp Set with the Music Notes Small Clear Polymer Stamps by Lavinia Stamps.
By the way, the Winter in July Sale is going on at Topflight Stamps right now and ends on July 16th, 11:59 EDT!
Here's the card!
I decided that the Cats on a Wall would be singing cats on a chimney during a snowstorm for my card.
My first step was to stamp the cats onto white cardstock and onto repositionable label paper. The label paper version was fussy-cut and placed atop its counterpart as a mask. The bottom part of the image panel was covered, then the background was brushed with Arctic Mist and Periwinkle Prism Inks by Hunkydory Crafts.
The mask was removed and the cats were colored with Copic markers. White Posca paint pens were used to add drifts of snow to the cats, the chimney, and the roofline.
VersaMark ink was used to randomly stamp the smaller snowflakes from the Winter's Snowflakes Clear Polymer Stamp Set, Pearl Perfect Pearls were applied, then brushed off to add shimmer to the snowflakes. This step actually added shimmer to the entire panel, which was a happy accident.
A not-so-happy accident occurred when I attempted to splatter the Posca paint over the image panel. I'm a failure at using the fan brush to splatter. The toothbrush method worked much better.
A scrap of white cardstock was die-cut, then the "Have a" and "Meow-y" from Heffy Doodle's Purrfect Day Clear Stamp Set and the "Christmas" from the Classic Sentiments Clear Stamp Set were stamped with Onyx Black VersaFine Ink by Tsukineko with the help of some Post-It Note masking prior to inking.
The notes from the Music Notes Small Clear Polymer Stamps by Lavinia Stamps were stamped with Arctic Mist and Periwinkle Prism Inks by Hunkydory Crafts. The speech bubble was edged and adhered to the image panel to cover up the worst parts of Splatter-geddon.
